VW closing the order book doesn’t surprise me, they have been pushing the GTE aggressively, evidenced by the TV ad campaign and the cheap deals coming through the lease market. I looked at PCH when changing looking to change our personal car a year or so ago and the monthlies were 200-250% of what is available now, I can only assume VW are subsidising the supply to get more out there.
As an aside and an update, I am finding that dark, cold mornings and evenings, along with wiper, heater, demisting demands are impacting on EL range. From achieving 26/27 miles of my commute on EL only, I’m now lucky to get 21/22. The 21m to work is not achievable on one charge. The ‘regen’ in GTE mode on the ICE is 2-3 miles (in the 21m return journey) at best, some evenings regen EL is zero or 1 mile if any at all. The result of this is my overall mpg is in the 70s-low 80s, whereas in the summer I was achieving 100+ mpg.
A major issue I find is misting up- there is little or no residual heat or heat-soak into the car from a cooling ICE and moist air very quickly causes windows to fog up. Any use of the heater or AC impacts on EL range and/or regen capability, so the temptation is turn off the heater / blowers wherever possible- but this simply results in everything misting up very quickly every 5 minutes or so. On the plus side the Iphone app to pre-programme early morning window heating / de-icing and warming the interior before departure is an absolute godsend though.

The OH has a 17.5 GTE Advance (the better looking one :-)), getting on for 6 months old. We got a cracking deal on it new on a PCP, but wonders whether now is the time to try and move it on as surely the used values will firm up due to supply and demand pressures? She would sorely love a Tesla.
