Ecotricity to start charging for charging

Easy have a modular uniform figment meaning that you have a special socket which can only be installed by a registered individual which will have a separate meter.
I'm not sure they will double up duty on fuel as guess what old granny has to buy food clothing stuff which has a logistics operation. There is nothing planned even on the long horizon for electric HGVs. I'd welcome it ditto taxi and buses clean air in towns past schools and no smog on uphill with a full wagon/they would be able to hold full speed all the way up the hill with EV.
Easy? What are you smoking? There's a world of difference between a technically possible solution and implementation. They may as well just get the car to say how many miles it's done and charge the VED accordingly and for cars over three years old do it as part of the mileage recorded during the mot. Or put a tax on tyres as they're proportional to use and penalise aggressive driving. I have to drive a 24kw Leaf back from just west of Cardiff to J6 A1 in a few days, is there a way to tell which rapids have been converted to charge?
You are worried about £5.... Pot luck could be lucky maybe notjason61c said:
hopefully they all charge
Ha yes Jason, will be the first time I have driven a Leaf. Hopefully hot weather will mean maximum range. Our Zoe is being collected 18m into a 24 month PCP, RCI were very quick about collecting. Having no excess mileage charge as the battery is owned will mean the car gets used a lot.modeller said:
PAYG for roads is only a matter of time once fuel duty starts to drop. Duty on electricity for charging a car - how?
I really strongly doubt it would happen. The public backlash would be huge, I can't think of any developed country that have wide spread PAYG road networks other than a few toll roads.

We have to get tax somehow unless we are happy for higher VAT on everything else?

Quite agree but the logical way is to charge for congestion and Pollution. I say that because of time that`s wasted by congestion and extra deaths from breathing foul air, carcinogenic fumes, killing life in all it`s forms, combustion that will have us all not being able to go out without breathing apparatus strapped over our heads !We have to get tax somehow unless we are happy for higher VAT on everything else?

Because as a country the population would not stand for it as a whole. We have to get tax somehow unless we are happy for higher VAT on everything else?
Only a small minority would be in favour of it.
As I said it has no leading precedence anywhere in the world as in there are no countries which have this system.
We already pay tax on things like Electricity
So say you have an electric car you have to pay vat to fuel it and then vat to drive it.
Seems daft.
Just won't happen.

Obviously not the same chargers that you'll be using but I picked up a leaf from kent on saturday and used South mimms, newport pagnell, leicester forest and tibshelf services and all of those were still free.People are commenting when charging on the zap map website at each location so you can see if anyone has mentioned it on there. Still worth installing the app and adding your debit card to it so you don't have to faff if it is a paid one.

Don't forget Nissan Dealers.According to Zap Map, Fish Bros Swindon, West Way Oxford (Name has changed now) and Glyn Hopkin in St Albans all have rapid chargers.
The PlugShare App shows a photo of the Rapid in Swindon, I've seen the Oxford one, unsure about Glyn Hopkin.
Useage will be subject to time and day of your trip.

Managed to get the app working for the first time yesterday.
Whilst it does work (with one of my credit cards) it was a bit of a faff.
Tried to scan in the QR code, but due to the strong overhead sun the phone struggled with recognising it, had to manually enter the charge unit ID.
Took about 3mins all in, now whilst not a disaster it's a massive step back from simply rock up, swipe you card & you are ready to go.

Thanks all bricking it, and I just found out whilst the owner says he paid off the finance it is still showing on the HPI. Have to ring RCI in the morning, should be collecting tomorrow afternoon. Used to driving an EV locally, and my experiences further afield are not good!
I'd not driven one before and then did 200 miles collecting mine on saturday, same car 24kw. It was fully charged when I collected it so played it safe and drove in eco mode did about 65mph to the first stop which was 70 miles then did a rapid charge to 80% and did 40 miles at 70ish, then another rapid to 80% then onto home, although stopped at a local rapid to top it up so my wife could try the car out.
I got full battery temp bars but didn't go into the red
