The next generation begins!

On sale October apparently, with about 10% higher power output, current 22kWh model remaining on sale, 22kW/43kW charge options as now

Those 2 year PCPs coming to an end around the end of this year with a GFV of £8500+ for the previous incarnation of Zoe now look hugely optimistic

I would say that never mind £8500+, the car isn't actually going to be worth a blow on a rag man's trumpet, is it?

Renault have apparently just said in the press conference that the new battery can be fitted to the existing model, but god only knows how much that would cost

Agreed. It might as well be called the Renault "Girlscar" It would put me off buying one if I was in the market for one. Which i'm definitely not.

248 mile range from 41kWh seems very optimistic. As a general rule of thumb EV's consume 0.3kWh per mile, so it could be 120miles.

The existing 22kWh model will scrape 100 miles if you drive like an absolute saint, I think 4mpkwh is about realistic for a mix of A-road/town driving, it drops if you go on motorways or if it's cold, so 3.5-4 would be 143-160 miles realistically.

Regeneration makes up a lot of the gap, you virtually drive these cars without touching the brakes. I expect that this car should be good for 180 miles based on everyones experience with the current model.

Way more than 120 miles, I can get 100 miles out of the Rapid Charge, which has a lower range than the non Rapid Charge.

Reading drivers experience, they 4-5 miles per kWh out of the existing Zoe, so this would equate to 164-205 miles.

Depends where in the country you live. In a Scottish winter I'm lucky to scrape 50 miles!

In my part of Scotland I get 60 miles in winter. Which is fine as I only need 48.

Not fully understanding the effect of cold weather on the batteries... if you only get 48 miles of range in the winter does it still take as much energy to charge the batteries? Put another way some of the reduced range is due to running with lights and heating etc but most is due to reduced battery output because of the cold weather. I guess what I'm trying to understand is whether or not the running cost per mile spikes much higher in the winter or if it's just the range that drops.

Cold weather means the battery chemistry isn't as efficient, plus heater and lights can use a little bit of energy. This means that it can use more energy and also take longer to charge. However once the battery pack is warmed up (by rapid charging or driving on the motorway), it isn't quite as bad.

Roughly range reduces about 25-40% in the winter.
