Adam Jnr isn't due til later this year ....trying to get a headstart on the car decision to allow for build times. I'm hoping the 18months of baby stuff will pay dividends when they play harmonelously with each other for the 10years after :-)

I am not quite sure what question is being asked anymore and I am not a fan of Tesla for various reasons - but I have made some recent calculations myself based on jag iPace HSE and Porsche Cayenne e hybrid (just launched model).
The thing I love most about our X (after the windscreen/powered doors) is simply the space. Put a rear facing child seat in any other car and the whole back feels claustrophobic, two child seats and I think you can wave good bye to the idea of carrything anything but screaming kids. Where as my wife has been in the third row whilst grandparents ride up front, and she had no issues. Even with a second one, and both 2nd row seats taken up by kids stuff the 3rd row is still fully usable with fairly easy entry/exit without having to move the child seats - either via the asile or move the powered 2nd row seat forwards with the kids seat in place. As much as Jaguar wants to pretend the iPace simply isn't a full sized SUV, but it's full size SUV money.

Before kids I never got the point of massive SUVs like the X, but now I cannot see us not having one on the driveway. The alternative if ofcourse something like a Zafira/Galaxy. Which are perfectly fine, and family always come before cars, but if you have the option to drive something like a X instead, why wouldn't you smile.

One other thing you hear about is the 100% FYA or first year allowance. This got a lot of people excited especially when the BMW i8 came out - it basically meant you could write the value of the car down to zero in the first year - so the whole purchase of the car came out of pre tax income for many thats about 40% off. Too good to be true... ? Yes.. when you came to sell the car, the value of the car was all taxable profit - over time you only ever get the tax relief of the depreciation although it can help with cash flow.
When you say you only get tax relief on the depreciation, that can actually be worth quite a lot. Not so much just at the moment I agree as you would have large BIK costs to account for, but the marginal tax rate is actually just over 51% assuming a higher rate tax payer when you combine together the corporation tax and higher rate dividend percentages.

So if a car depreciates from £100k to £50k then effectively over half the depreciation is paid for by a tax saving. Assuming this allowance is still in place come 2020, I think it will create a mini-boom in high value EVs.
Absolutely - it depends on your situation. 50k over 3 years is 16k a year - almost exactly what the BIK is. Its further complicated in terms of total costs as you can't claim mileage when running a company car, at best you can just get reimbursement of actual costs. I hold mine outside the company, my depreciation (hopefully!) won't be anything like 16k a year and I can claim 45p for say 10k miles each year - £4.5k when it costs be probably a couple of hundred in electricity. I'm also a low insurance risk so its only a few hundred.

I think I mentioned this - once its 2% and assuming the salary sacrifice hasn't caught ownership, I may well put mine into the company. It would certainly drive adoption and probably what Jag and the like are eying up.

So got a MX 100D on a 24hr test drive over the weekend. Gave me chance to have a proper play with it and test it with the child seat, dog, car parks, trip to the tip. They are impressive bits of kit and the 6 seat config has pretty much made my mind up.

Great - make sure you use a referral code to get free unlimited super charging.

If you're impatient and want to see the new inventory including demonstrators, or used inventory for that matter, then check out

http://tesla-info.com/UK/inventory.html

Its my site so I can answer any questions you might have about options, pricing etc. either on here or through the web site

Yeah looked at that site last week - very handy. They don't have the 6 seat 100d in midnight silver at the moment so got my guy at Leeds Tesla watching it for me.

I can see one, but its a demonstrator as it has a few miles and has the cream interior, I'm not sure the 3,400 saving is worth it for effectively a used car

I'll run a scan and see what I can find for you though, I'm not sure even the Tesla staff can see everything

Until I took my dog out in I was all set for the white interior ....but would be constantly wiping it down.
Especially since there isn't a proper boot divider/dog guard with the 6 seat. Need to look at some aftermarket net to stop the shopping hitting the windshield if I brake quick!

If you can wait get a new order, my current June 2017 build X has different motor/switches from our orignal Dec 2016 build X - the motor in particualr is a big change I recon its atleast 5-10% more efficent at same speeds. The current cars have better media unit CPU and AP hardware than my car. If your not in a massive rush a custom build is always the best option, especially is ££££ are minimal.

I was under the impression that already built stock cars were cheaper to lease? 2.5% compared to 4.5% or something. Dealer deffo seemed to be pushing that route than a new build order. Either way it'll be <50miles on it and latest version.

Not all Inventory is the same, they still have 2017 built cars they're trying to pass off as new. They are increasingly shipping speculatively, especially with the MS but there are some MX, which are just a month newer than a custom order, but Gang is right, its worth knowing what category they fall into to make sure you don't get an older car without realising.

I've just run a scan across the UK VIN ranges and nothing new has popped out so just that Cream one for now. The white was harder wearing than you'd think and I imagine the cream would be the same as they're all a quality synthetic leather I believe. But I can understand you not wanting it. You're also about to enter the silly season as Tesla are massively driven by quarter end deliveries - you might be able to get a deal the closer to the end of June the deal and delivery can be done, although discounts are not a common trait with Tesla.

I dont know about lease rates, but if its cheaper than makes sense.

The biggest changes to the X (as with all Teslas) is better build quality over time so any car built since 2017 would be great.

Enjoy the car when it finally arrives, its amazing how quickly you get use to the powered doors....these days if the drivers door doesnt close by it self when I stamp on the brake I wonder whats going on!! Shame only its the X that comes with the feature smile.

The build quality and fit/finish are often criticised, compared to other cars in the same price bracket. What was your impression?

Got myself one with a white interior. I am quite stunned at how comfortable, soft and good looking the seats actually are. Absolutely worried about keeping it clean but first impressions are that it seems to be pretty good.
Bit of a punt taking this on to be honest but quietly pleased with how it’s going and looking forward to many miles.

We have a very small dog arriving in a couple of weeks hopefully it won’t be let loose in this....

No idea about boot space in a RangeRover but the utility of the X is astounding. Picked up x4 22inch wheels with tyres on from Tesla last week, initially thought I would have to unload them at home before doing the nursery run, but nope, car swallowed up the wheels all without needing to move the childseat and still space for another adult in the back!!!

As a family wagon the X really is hard to beat, am very tempted to upgrade to a P100D L version now, cannot see us swapping it for anything else for a long long time.....But will wait to see what Tesla does with battery options when they eventuality move S/X battery chemistry to the same as Model 3 pack....120-150kWh and that's job done for me I think interms fo cars for the next 18 years smile.
