Paid reservation fee last night. Delivery says early 2019. Taking that with a pinch of salt.

I'm going to to cancel mine. My circumstances have changed a lot since I ordered (no longer do huge mileage), and I was in NY this weekend and saw one in the flesh. It looked like an average eurobox saloon and lacked any presence.

A pretty good comparison of two great cars. Personally am having issues justifying even thinking about paying £50kish for the AWD Model 3 when our much more practical X with powered doors, massive windscreen, powered rear sears had a base price that was only £11k more......I know X prices are now much higher but I cannot help compare to what we paid in 2016.

Still the Model 3 sounds like a really sorted car, shame Tesla don't do the LR RWD version any more. £40k would be a much easier price to stomach for a second car.

I took at look at the model 3 last week in London and it looks ok actually in my view, and I was a model S sceptic.

The fact you can only get plastic seats is annoying, but that aside I'll post likely go through with my order.

I got my deposit down within literally minutes of the book opening in the UK end of March 2016 so must be one of the first handful. My order estimate is telling me early 19. I'll believe it when I see it.

I've also heard that deposit holders are selling their positions at a premium -- any truth in that?

I don’t think that the reservation is transferable so another party, so don’t believe that rumour. There are plenty of owners on the TOG Facebook who also have reservations for a 3 and I haven’t seen anything alluding to M3 transfers.

Not sure you’ll be one of the first, unless you are going for a high spec car, and even then I think you’d be behind an existing Tesla owner as they get priority AFAIK.

Early ‘19? Not a prayer. My money would be on Q3 at the earliest.

I really wouldn't worry about reservation place, Tesla are shifting these cars to as many people who can afford them as possible.

Yes Model S/X owners get first dip, in total there cannot be more than 5K S/X owners in the UK, even if every single one ordered a 3 thats less than 1 weeks worth of production.

The key to getting one early is the price you willing to pay, I suspect the first batch of cars coming over to the UK will be all performance versions, so £65Kish after grant. The market for a £65K small saloon isn't big (BMW can only shift around 2-3K similar price M3s over 12 months), and Tesla wouldnt be doing any kind of discounts/finance deals, so if you got the cash am pretty sure your get one of the first cars to land on UK shores even if you haven't got a reservation.

Q2/Q3 does seem more likely though, as European delivers wouldn't start till end of Q1. Though Tesla will be as happy to take your £65K as your be getting hold of a Model 3. For Tesla selling some a RHD £65K Performance Model is currently higher priority than selling the $35K version to a US reservation holder.

Cannot wait for these to land on UK shores, am doing my very best to financially sensible and wait for depreciation to kick in before jumping on a Performance 3, will have to see how long I can keep to that plan smile.

Am sure we will get plenty, but its how much they will cost imported. Ofcourse we might get an amazing trade deal with the U.S. with £0 duty been paid.....after all anything is possible, my daughter just got given this present by a relative smile.

Yep, kind of the exact opposite of what he said, well played. Back to special school.

Well the opposite of ugly as sin would be something like ‘beautiful and good’. Hardly what 98Elise said.

Well, either ugly as sin or beautiful, the car would stand out, one way or the other.
Bland, average, lacking presence, definitely would NOT stand out.

EVs get a kicking on being too oddball and futuristic, Teslas are on the simple end of design bit nice and clean

looks are subjective but I really like them, not surprising as I also like the recent mazdas and its the same designer.

IMO the 3 series is fussy and over styled, the Audi puts me to sleep, Id take the honda and kia over both, the best looking in the class is the alfa by far clean lines but with style and aggression very cohesive .
