Abit peed off that mirrors dont auto fold when locking. That is what i expect on the high spec m sport premium, also no adjustable seat. Anyways I should have known its a costable extra. Rant over

Does anyone know if the bmw connected works via bluetooth (e.g you have to be within proximity of the car) or if its totally wireless. E.g has its own data sim network or something

It seems like its not connected anymore. But it does say it takes a few hours

Happy to answer any other qs guys
It's definitely wireless as you can see how much charge the car has no matter where you are. As for un/locking, I'm not sure if that's entirely wireless or within bluetooth range. Would make sense for it to be within short proximity, at least for unlocking.. Anytime I've tried it has always been nearby.

Octopus charge 5p/kWh from 00:30-04:30 at night. Enough to fully charge the car, even with a 3 pin plug. The day time rate is a reasonable ~14p/kWh.
Where is this tariff (on their website) ?

Well that sucks. Not working for me. Will try a reinstall of the app

Does the navigation allow imported POI e.g speed cams?

I agree the car must have its own sim as you find the location and see the fuel etc remotely from signifcant distance. I'm sure I did read that it can only be unlocked/lights when you are within a certain distance of the car. I have noticed that on occasion it takes a minute for the commands to come through to the car.

I found the app very straightforward to set up but I prefer to just use the connected drive through browser as it works better than the app which can be a bit slow.

My 225xe has hill start assist I’m sure.

It’s an auto - I’ve yet to drive an auto car that rolled backwards on a hill when releasing the brake pedal...

Folding mirrors on the M retract if you hold down the lock button.

BMW connected has it's own sim I believe, other wise non of the locking or send to car would work?

Not a chance. You can't import any POI on any BM. Something to do with speed camera alerts being illegal in germany.

Now at 80mpg half a tank used and currently done 350 miles. Interesting octopus tariff but would need to see how much the extra non charging cost offsets the car charging cost. Not sure it would tbh.

You need the folding mirrors option for the dipping to work on a bmw

first thoughts, although not been far:
when the battery is cold, electric range is reduced by a margin - been advised climatising the car 30 mins before helps (but surely this isn't warming up the engine but just the cabin?) is this true? :/

prefer using battery save mode, for now, warm up for 30 mins by driving (if going far) then using an electric motor but will have to trial and error :/

got an electric monitor to see how much it cost using the domestic plug smile

how is the hybrid technology like on this (recharging while braking)? :/

any recommendations on which charging unit is the best value for money (seen rolecs for approx 149) might be worth getting 7kw for future proofing whilst olev grant is in place smile

Correct, the preheating just heats/cools the cabin so the idea is you have a nice warm/cool cabin when you get into it that has been using power from mains rather than battery and if you want to keep it on you can have it at moderate setting to maintain temp.
Otherwise, on cold or hot days, people tend to turn the settings on max as soon as they get in.

Deepends on journey type and distance as to what Battery Save is most suited for but I generally find Max eDrive for short journeys and Auto eDrive for anything requiring longer/motorway journeys.

The battery saver is really if you specifically want to save battery for a certain point in journey, such as the last 15 miles (if that’s your max capacity)

I got the 7kw Chargemaster unit via ChargedEV for £149 +OLEV. If you get one fitted under the OLEV grant it has a 3 year warrenty too.

Regarding charging unit. I have a Zappi which cost c£300 installed after the OLEV Grant. They have a newer version that has just been announced last week.

Installers must be at it then in Scotland!

I’ve been quoted circa £1200 for a Zappi to be installed.

OLEV £500
Energy Saving Trust £300
Me £400

Some companies just not reply or takes ages with quotes.

Car arrives on Friday and charger still not organised! Look like I will going with the Rolec as that can be done for the £800 grant.
