As mentioned the lease company should be able to provide a copy of the V5. When I applied I didn’t need to provide the certificate of conformity.

Anyone have experience of applying for the ultra low emission discount (ULED) from tfl in London, that means you don’t need to pay the congestion charge?

We need to provide
V5C vehicle registration certificate (logbook) issued by the DVLA - all pages
And
You must also submit a photocopy of the conformity certificate provided by the vehicle dealership.

My vehicle is leased from total motion.

Any ideas?
I also thought that I needed a 'conformity certificate' for my 330E in order to apply for Congestion Charge Exemption. I spent days chasing my leasing company and the supplying dealer for one with no success.

Turns out, that I just needed the V5 and nothing else when I eventually spoke to TFL.

So long as you submit a scan of the V5, you will be fine - I did mine online with only the front page of the V5 and the exemption was issued within a few days.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for the responses this evening. Will try get the v5 from the leasing company and then apply. Quite strange the tfl site does not yet recognise my reg plate. I’ve had the car 5 weeks already

Another quickie- if I get any pcn’s, will they come direct to me or sent to the leasing company first?

In previous leases I’ve had, they’ve gone to the leasing company who have nominated me as the driver and then the issuing authority reissues to me with the full time period to pay.

In saying that though, it has been private companies which issued them. And in each instance I’ve contacted the leasing company to say that if they dare pay on my behalf that there will be hell to pay.

another minor gripe.

They've moved the unlock button from under the hazzard switch to the drivers door. How is my missus supposed to reach that frm the passenger seat.

well I hear you ask,,,get comfort access for the boot.

I have. I have managed to make it work twice in 3 months. Once accidentally!

If your ‘missus’ pulls the passenger door handle? Won’t that unlock all the doors?

I drove mine from Aylesbury to Falmouth and back over the Xmas period. Not sure on mpg but my average (according to app) went from 51 to 46mpg - car has done 1200 miles now and 600 of them were on this trip.

Points of note:
• It really needs the ZF 8 speed box, 6th just isn’t long enough for 70-80mph cruising.
• I wish the rear seats slid forward to allow more boot space - it appears non hybrid version of the car have this feature.
• Even when the battery says it is empty it has enough electricity in reserve to do a few miles of stop start heavy traffic on the A303!
• Petrol tank is to small, I couldn’t charge up in Cornwall and just about made it home with 30 mile range remaining after brimming it before leaving.
• It really is quite a nice place to be on a long drive. My first auto and hybrid so not used to how relaxing they are!

Clearly any of the Diesel models would have been better suited to this trip, but not as an all year, all round package for us.

TM pay the fines. Not happy about that but they say due to their amount of cars they use a third party to process and that’s what they’ll do. Told them that their assuming they know whose driving but they said it would get passed on then you can deal and it appealed will be refunded. Not ideal.

Once these things are paid, there's no going back. I once hired a van and got a local authority parking fine. Europcar paid it and hit me with a fee on top, all taken from my credit card. I contacted my local council, told them that the fine was issued incorrectly and the man on the phone told me I would have definite grounds for appeal, had the fine not been paid. As it had been paid, I had lost my ability to appeal.

So, answers on a postcard, please.

Where's the best place to obtain a charging cable, without going back to BMW? Twice at the weekend charging spots with integrated cables were taken, and the cable that came with the car wasn't going to do the job for the non-cabled charging posts.

Ebay. Genuine BMW cables from BMW dealers. Like this one:https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-BMW-RAPID-PUBLIC-CHARGING-CABLE-FOR-i8-i3-and-HYBRID-MODELS-61902455069/254026716073

Thank you. A minor annoyance, and something which it would seem logical to just include with the car...

It's a joke they don't come with a public charging cable. It also leads to PHEVs owned by less conscientious people blocking public rapids when they're unable to use the fast chargers nearby due to the lack of a cable. This can really ps off full EV owners who need to use the rapids (understandably in my view).

My OH got a 225xe on a cheap deal - it drives nicely and is a good car for town work but the economy on motorway runs isn't great. Overall she's pretty happy with it though.

Obviously it wouod be better if it came with the proper cable but I bought one from a BMW dealer on eBay for £120. If I don't get another EV/PHEV after this lease then I'll just put it on eBay and hopefully get £80 back for it as I've kept the box, manual, gloves pristine.

It's annoying, but it's only £100 in the grand scheme of things.
The motorway thing hasn't been much of an issue for me. It did quite a few miles over Christmas with a boatload of food/presents, and seemed quite happy to sit at 80-85 for extended periods. Of course, the tank size is a downside, but one that is an easy tradeoff. The major annoyance continues to be the tyre noise from the runflats, particularly on concrete motorway sections.

Anyone notice the awkward position of the rear view mirror?

It either hangs very low or I am sitting way too high. Sometimes I have to dip my head to look at oncoming vehicles as I feel the rear view mirror blocks my front view

indeed. That coupled with restricted A pillar views makes for not a great view.

What Psi is advised to inflate tyres for the 225xe?

I’ve seen numbers as high as 43 and 41. Can they be correct?
