Loofer, how did you arrange the inspection?

If TM offer 48 hr for collection, why would they be unhappy?

Would be great to understand the inspection process. I have alloy scuffs. Best to arrange inspection first, see what they say about alloys? If they mark it up, then I get it privately repaired before the collection?

When I originally started an early discussion with TM about the return process, I was told "oh we need 4-6 weeks'.
Speaking to Tech Inspect, they were like 'you tell us when you want inspection and when you want us to collect. Just give us 48 hrs notice.'

I'm paying £250 month for very little use of the car, probably about 200 miles month. Doesn't bother me to much. Just need to get a move on with finding the right car.

Disappointed TM wouldn't budge on renegotiating mileage. Would've considered getting ti serviced and keeping it longer.

So TechInspect came out today.
All fine, in addition to checking vehicle he asked to see the 2nd key and took pics of both of them together.

I have no other damage, just the wheels, which i don't dispute
2 wheels he marked as requiring repair c£110 + VAT each
2 wheels he marked as requiring replacement c£350 + VAT each.

he was quite open to point out that I could dispute these.

He also mentioned that his charge sheet shows 'no charges to be recorded' for any missed service and 'no charges to be recorded' for excess mileage.

the mileage might be because i'm into informal extension so would have to be worked out by TM.

He said I should query the service with TM but if the dash showed service due/overdue then he would just make a note of it but not list it as a charge.

Expensive wheels! I would have been sorting those out prior to inspection.

I’m in dispute with TM. They want £150+vat for bumper damage which is non existent and not any photos. Bizarrely they state “as can be seen on the photos”. There is nothing there??

TM tried to charge me for a stonechip that was non existent when it left my care. I had photos to prove the perfect condition taken on the day of collection.

Received an email a week later stating they 'let me off as a goodwill gesture'.

Moral of the story - get wheels refurbed as cheaply as possible and take your own photos before you had over keys!

yes I've not decided on a collection yet. May even be as late as October.

I just wanted to get a feel for charges.

I've found a wheel refurb place for £65/wheel and said he will get them good enough for BVRLA inspection.

This missed service No Charge seems to have perked my interest. I may keep for longer until the right lease deal comes along or a buy a car.

Emailed TM about the service and here’s what they replied with

TM End of Contract team said:
Good Evening
This vehicle is on 2 year/18k Service Intervals so the first service isn’t due until Nov 20/18K. Your mileage appears to be under 18k so a service isn’t yet due.
I’m still confused when service is due as far as my contract is concerned. BMW App and the cars menu says oil service due in Sept 2020 (or another 11k miles).

However when in The car when I check the service history, the last service was the PDI on 7th November 2018.

So if I go with what the email says then I should be good for another few months

£179.40 + VAT for the scratch on my bumper, Samdy has been charged £89.40 +VAT, and thought it would be much more. There is no consistency.

I am not sure how the scratch happened to my car, maybe someone scuffed it with a trolley or rubbed off it when parking. The thing is, it is not a continuous scratch, it is on the corner of the bumper and has one bit which has gone through to the black plastic beneath, then a bit of paint, then back to the plastic. I could maybe challenge it on that basis, but they might then charge me for two scratches.

The BVRLA guidelines seem to state that if you wish to appeal anything, you have to get a qualified engineer to provide an alternative report. That might be more expensive than the damage which you are contesting, and you may still have to pay at the end.

Blimey, those are expensive wheels. Can't believe they could be that badly marked that they need to be replaced entirely, that's mad.

To the person who had to dispute charges with TM, did they actually send you an invoice or just the inspection report thing? I've still not had an invoice from them and the car went back nearly two months ago. I'm tempted to tell them to whistle if I get an invoice now, there must be a cut off surely.

I’m sure there are terms and conditions. With my previous lease, they took the charges within a couple of days. I had expected it to come at the next DD date. I grumbled a bit and they showed me the Ts&Cs to show when they would take it.

After the inspection is done, do I still have the opportunity of fixing any identified damage?

If the charges are high, I would be keen to fix myself, before the car if collected.

Is that possible?

It’s apparently ordinarily possible but mine was collected the next day so I didn’t have the opportunity.

Yes, that's the advantage of inspection pre-collection. Just make sure you arrange it with enough time in between.

My previous lease just had inspection done on day of collection.

I’ve just received another inspection report from Total Motion with pictures taken inside a polythene tunnel of some form.

The cost of the scratch on the rear bumper has come down from £179.40 to £89.70, which is great news. But the costs on the wheels remain the same.

I’ve written back asking how I appeal.

I got my inspection report on Monday.
Expected charges on 2 Alloy’s. 110 each, excluding vat

But some real bogus cold metal dents and polish’s needed which are no even visible to the eye. What is process to challenge these? This is clearly taking the proverbial P*ss

I am wondering on the basis that TM seem much keener to charge than others such as VW. This is a complete guess, but does the fact the they have advertised ‘used’ 225 XE ( M Sport Premium) to lease, anything to do with their tougher than norm charging?

£351.42 per month including VAT. I was paying just under £250 for the same 8k miles and I got it brand new.

I wonder how they will get on with that.

Wow that's incredible.

Firstly I've never heard of a lease company taking back stock and re-leasing it as "used", and secondly I agree, the monthly charge on my terms is almost £150pm (50%!) more for a used car than brand new.

I've heard of used car leases but I didn't think it was very popular. Guess it's one way to try to earn a bit more from the asset but can't see anyone taking it up at that price!

These 225XE/530e and believe A Class deals were great, in addition to one fee. But since then I don’t think they’ve had anything remotely competitive.
Their 2nd hand deals are pants. I used to get marketing emails offering used car lease for 48 months terms. Insulting.

Who comes up with this stuff?!
