I’m picking my 2017 one up on Monday. It’s an M sport in Estoril blue with what looks like every option going ticked on it. Really looking forward to it!
Done about 3-400 miles in it so far. Really liking it.Edited by buggalugs on Tuesday 11th August 20:46
Good:
Interior, light coloured leather w. sports seats. Everything is nice everywhere. Like the pan roof. The outside is Estoril Blue with privacy glass. I like it.
It's got the fancy stereo, HK I think? That's nice
Handling & performance is good, its fun to chuck about, on the way home tonight I was in manual mode and floored it in 3rd to get round a cyclist, I was like where've you been all my life. That 3 cylinder engine note combined with the large torque and the 4wd grip, very nice.
Bad:
The A pillar is massive, you can easily loose things in it, cars at roundabouts, lemming pedestrians etc.
The sat nav doesn't have speed limits in it. Seriously?
That's it, average so far is about 80mpg with plugging in over night.

That's a pretty decent assessment, although I'd probably be a bit cooler on the handling (I find our M-Sport very 'boaty') and less worried about speed limits on the nav (the Waze app is infinitely superior).
Depends what you're coming from I guess, I had a C Class estate then an XC60 courtesy car so it feels OK to me. It does well for ride most of the time but there's just certain bumps that do jar through the cabin.I don't think I have CarPlay, mine was reg'd in 2017 but built late 2016. I haven't seen any options for CP and don't want a phone holder stuck on the dash for Waze. The built in nav on the screen is a bit old looking but it integrates really well with the heads up display, it works really well, except for the lack of the speed limits obvs. I guess I'll just have to look at the road signs like some kind of neanderthal.

As I understand it, BMW were charging a monthly fee for Apple CarPlay until recently. You would have to have it specced and then pay on top of that. Subscription is going to be a big part of their future business. Your car will come with heated seats, satnav, active cruise control etc built in but won’t work unless you pay for them.
And when you sell your car, the next owner will have to pay again.
My update on getting car collected by TotalMotion/Pink Leasing here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I’m 2000 miles into mine now, 32k total miles on it. Average mpg was 70 but a week in Wales with no charges dropped it to 64. Had some fun on the Welsh B roads, even got a little bit of air at one point It’s more of a B road machine than A road eater. 3 hours in it heading to the coast didn’t leave us tired or sore though. The 4WD kicked in on a wet grassy slope up to our accommodation and worked well.
The driving modes and the way it manages battery are interesting. Sport Plus will actually charge the battery up to 80%+ using the engine as you drive, so it puts your MPG through the floor if you activate it with an empty battery. The other two modes will gradually drain the battery to 5-10% and hover in that area.
MPG on the motorway is slightly worse than my old C220 diesel but the town and short trip mpg more than makes up in my useage.
Heating the cabin murders the battery.
Road noise is more than I’d like I’ll go non-runflat on the 18’s and see how it is. I had Eagle F1’s on the C class and they were lovely, will go with them again.

We're just approaching the end of year 2, extended from the original 18mths on a rolling basis while the world sorts itself out. The leasing company (Pink) have been really great to deal with, and caused very little fuss.
First service happened last week, at BMW Park Lane, because we triggered the 2 year timer at 17k miles (significantly less than estimated).
BMW relieved me of £350, the warnings on the dash went off, I got a cable and some rear lights sorted under recall and a quick rinse off.
It continues to perform dutifully when required. Rav4 is probably the favourite to replace it in light of the PHEV London CCZ/ULEZ exception ending next Oct. Who knows when that might be though?

I’d say if you’re doing 3k a year at under 15mi a journey - go full electric.
In saying that, I do like my 225xe. Full charge is saying between 18-20 miles and I’m close to getting that on most journeys in Max Edrive mode. I’m averaging about 70mpg at the moment using it regularly for a 90 mile round trip commute.

Most of our journeys are short, less than 15 miles, and using just the normal e-drive it will almost achieve it. The issue is when you come to hills or wish to 'nip' out of a junction. The petrol engine chimes in to give the extra oomph. We are at the point where after 4 years there is the urge to change it, but to be honest it does all we require, comfortable and has good load space, and on longer journeys it happily returns 50+ mpg, more if you stay off motorway and stick to 60 mph. 'Touch wood' it's been reliable (might live to regret that statement!) buts its complex with regards to software controlling the e-drive.
Hi, we have been running one for the past 4 years. It's on a 68 plate so bought second hand from BMW. At that time the second hand price was attractive, although now not so. I tend to agree that the prices are high at present. We have generally used it in electric mode as although it's the daily, being retired, most trips are short. We bought it to replace a diesel golf as retirement removed to 60 mile commute and it remove emissions, in what would be generally town driving.
It's been generally been reliable and we have been pleased with it. Transition ICE to EV is seamless you only notice that pull away is slower on ICE. It's well equipped and comfortable, however since we bought choice has improved in the PHEV market. Thus would agree that holding on is a good strategy.
Cheers
Dave

Is anyone still running one of these?
My wife likes the look of them and it looks like it would be perfect for her tbh, anything to look out for, best spec etcs?
Have they been reliable, ones I've seen are 17-19 model year ones with 70-80k miles on them.
Presumably the same as a Countryman S E underneath.

Yes, I'm still running one, '68' plate but have only got 13000 miles on the clock. Generally happy with it. The only issue we have is that currently there is an intermittent 'SOS call system failure' warning that pops up. Seems to be temperature and charge status dependant. We suspect that it is the battery within the unit under the shark fin that is the issue. BMW want between £300 and £800 pounds to change it!!!!! Thus if looking to buy it may be worth seeing if the status of the battery is available via the OBD. It's more annoying than anything as it blocks the charge status display and you cannot scroll through the menu using the button on the left hand stalk.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave I'll make sure I check that.
Do you use an app or similar that can set departure times etcs for the car so it's pre heated/cooled in a morning?
Our Kuga uses Fordpass and it's great, can set the car to defrost for 7:30 etcs so no scraping in a morning, and remote start it if you're out and about to do the same.
Do BMW have something like this on the 2 series?
