Just picked up my I Pace
Discussion
Thing is, as mentioned earlier I wondered if he was making heavy weather of things, but on the other hand it was a manufacturer demo vehicle. I know from own experience that sometimes manufacturer demo cars aren't always presented particularly well wheny delivered, not meaning as in dirty, they're always immaculate, but various stuff is just not right. One example tyre pressures, required 30psi, one tyre down at 16, one up at 48. Plus just to make life difficult running on fumes, nearest filling station 12 miles away, 10 miles less than the displayed range remaining, that was a seat clenching first few miles. All that was before we got to all the odd settings buried deep in the menus.
Bit of an update/change of heart.
After checking back, I looked at the Tesla3 and with the longer range of the performance and the wider availability of chargers, I placed my order.
I'm sure it wont be a patch on the Jag but until I understand the charger infrastructure better or the services mature, I decided to take the cheaper and supposedly safer option (for chargers)

Have you test driven either of them? After checking back, I looked at the Tesla3 and with the longer range of the performance and the wider availability of chargers, I placed my order.

On Model 3 you don’t get free supercharger use so you need to tick that option

I test drove the I-Pace and E-Tron - not really a fan of SUVs, but Jag was much better to drive. I chose a Model 3 because it is a much better all round package and the charging infrastructure is so much better than any other manufacturer that it wasn't a difficult choice. At present, as Harry says, all other EVs can really only be used locally based on the available public charging infrastructure across the country. I don't think either the E-Tron or I-Pace at £65-90k are great value as a local runaround! I think a lot of people are coming to that conclusion too and so I would think the residuals will reflect this, making them a great second-hand buy, especially if you have a home charger.

The fact it also has the supercharger network was the cherry on the cake.

The heating in the I-pace must be better than a Tesla . Bloke I see driving a model 3 every day seems to feel the need to wear a bobble hat to keep warm .....
My wife commented earlier today on just how good the heating in the Tesla is funnily enough, seems to warm up quicker than any previous car from stone cold. Sadly some people get very silly about range and efficiency with EV's so refuse to use it even at this time of year. The i3 heating on the other hand is bloody awful. Takes an age to get going and even then is only about half as effective as the Tesla system.

Why does every single thread in the EV section turn into a " Tesla is best , and if you buy something else you are idiots " .
It gets a bit tedious .
I dont think that's the case. Here, I gratefully followed the ipace updates as was in the market until I discovered the new pricing issues for ionity and then discovered the potential issues with the public charge networkIt gets a bit tedious .
It wasnt the model3 being better but was the charging network being better which made me feel that was the better choice for now. In 3 years I'm sure the situation for charging will be better but even the model3 without the free access pays 15 quid a charge, that's a no brainer, not to say the 3 is better.
Having been in the S previously it put me off tesla as it rattled more than a Ford a class and was that nice. The years moved on and whilst the 3 is not better made, its difficult to justify quite how the others get to near 20k more for similar spec
Personally though I think the ipace is epic and a real great show of what we can achieve
