Just picked up my I Pace
Discussion
I’ve had my iPace for five weeks and 1600 miles now and generally agree with what bertie says - though haven’t done any journeys in it yet further than a 90 mile round trip. The infotainment / software seems a bit flaky eg, satnav decided the car never left my garage for a week though it did 400 miles, the cameras are a bit random in showing what’s happening as it happens or with a bit of a delay and occasionally showing forward view when I am reversing. Stereo no better than ok (mine has the highest level of standard fit so I was hoping for better). But I don’t know of any car I would rather have

Audi e-tron? Witchfinder said:
The E-Tron is very nice, especially inside. It has absolutely laughable efficiency though. It barely manages a 75mpg equivalent.
I personally prefer the more modern design of the I Pace, I find the Audi rather boring and generic looking, but in terms of efficiency, is it that much different really?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blqZ_rZ7WFI
All these large BEV cars seem much of a muchness, and I think that's going to be the challenge for manufacturers in the future.
The drivetrains are all pretty similar so there needs to be something else to differentiate them

Jaguar have now published a range calculator for the iPace:

Motorway driving at average 57mph (who does that in car?), 10C - 177 miles ??https://www.jaguar.com/jaguar-range/i-pace/electri...
My Monday meetings in Tunbridge Wells sees me do the M11, M25, A21 and back. While I'll crack on at 70 when I can, my average for the trip is around 55-60 depending on traffic.
I am very tempted by one of these , the test drive I had really impressed me. The potential stumbling point is the boot - I’ve got two puppies and they will both be big dogs in 6months time and I don’t know if they’ll fit - a German Shepherd and a German Pointer - anyone else managed to get two decent size dogs in theirs?

The video shows that the Audi is clearly the last efficient by some margin. It's not very far off, but you have to take into account then fact that Audi are very conservative with a "full" charge - they don't let you use nearly as much of the battery as Tesla do.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blqZ_rZ7WFI

That's doubly worse.. It's both inefficient from a wh/km plus smaller available battery. Ffs the etron holds back as much as what's in my phev.
All that extra unused battery adds weight and volume cost and reduces the number of etron they can make.

This is interesting.
I hadn’t considered the usable battery capacity, only the spec
So what are the usable capacities and is this why the ipace seems to have a lower range than my Tesla did?
It's a combo of smaller usable battery and poorer aerodynamics. I hadn’t considered the usable battery capacity, only the spec

I think the ipace has 82kwh available out of the 90.
Its normal to have some buffer the model 3 has 80kwh pack with 75 available. Imo if they advertise pack size it should be the available power (like Hyundai Kia do) rather than total like Nissan audi etc

We're enjoying our IPace too.
When its time to move on, im thinking of trying the Polestar2. Just need to decide whether its worth putting a desposit down for the first edition or letting them launch and see what follows.
If the Polestar has been available now, I might well have got one instead of the iPace When its time to move on, im thinking of trying the Polestar2. Just need to decide whether its worth putting a desposit down for the first edition or letting them launch and see what follows.

So do you know the actual usable capacity it the Tesla S 90 , Audi and I Pace? I think the ipace has 82kwh available out of the 90.

I've got a deposit on the Polestar 2, and I'm going to go and have a proper look at it when it is on tour in the UK. I'll be sure to post plenty of info when I have it in the Polestar 2 thread.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
