So do you know the actual usable capacity it the Tesla S 90 , Audi and I Pace?

I Pace is 82kwh
Not sure on the tesla 90, its usually a bit less than advertised but has an additional buffer.

The etron is 95kwh pack with 82kwh usable.

Quick google says the tesla 90 has 84kwh usable

In theory it does, in practice the Ota updates are done over wires at dealers. For free!

I wondered that when the dealer told me it was ota. Anyone who’s got an iPhone knows how long a software update can take and sometimes if it get interrupted it can cause a world of issues.

Out of interest does anyone know what the ota speed is? We live in an area of very poor reception and slow broadband so this could be a showstopper (already worried about boot size for two dogs).

Saw another one on the road yesterday- damn fine looking cars!

I had an OTA update of the telematics and infotainment on my XF two days ago.

You check for updates, then click the download button. You can then drive and use the system normally.

If you stop driving mid download it pauses and resumes when you next drive.

Once it’s downloaded it installs next time the car is turned off. Overall seems to take about 30 min for a system update. That’s over the 4g sim in the car.

Works fine. The latest system has good voice recognition for SatNav and phone, messages etc and is faster and smoother than the previous.

I’m sure the iPace is using the same system.

"This is also the first Jaguar able to receive software updates wirelessly. This SOTA capability ensures the I-PACE continuously improves after customers have taken delivery, providing drivers with updates to their infotainment system, telematics unit and battery charging capability."

I guess only those limited systems get OTA updates

OTA updates have not yet been activated in any iPace - now put back (again) to September

I don’t think that’s true. Most Jaguars since around 2017 can be upgraded (in and have been for over a year) by a dealer to subsequently receive SOTA updates in those areas. That’s been possible and happening since July last year before the i Pace was available.

If you have ICTP Pro you can get SOTA updates.

Whatever. It’s a fact that other models have had SOTA since before the iPace was launched.

Maybe it’s the first model to have them at launch but it’s certainly not the first model to have them.

I've just recieved a recall notice for a "non compliance related braking recall"

Basicly if the regen braking fails then it takes too long, 1.5 seconds, for the friction braking to kick in "with a risk the stopping distance in unxepectedly extended." eek

I've booked that one in fairly quickly as I dont fancy having no or next to no brakes for 1.5 seconds!

Got to get it back to the dealers and hang around for an hour as not able to do it OTA...bit crap.

You need to read the recall letter again, regs allow 1 sec for the friction braking to reach 75% of the drivers braking request if the in use regen braking fails completely. On the i-pace it can take up to 1.5 seconds to achieve 75%.

It does not mean there are no brakes for 1.5 seconds.

I read it, which is why I said “no or next to no brakes”

I still don’t fancy it.

I remember a very uncomfortable feeling in my i3 on many occasions where the bumpy road or going round a bend meant the regeneration did not activate - and that was mostly not when trying to slow down. Fortunately Not had any similar feeling in the iPace even before the update was applied for this 11 days ago

yes, that's vile, isn't it. it feels like the car suddenly shoots off when it just isn't slowing down at the rate that your brain is expecting...

The massive buffer seems to be so that it can maintain 150kW charging right up to 80%:

Very impressive, just a shame they made it so incredibly inefficient so that you don't really get the benefit of those lower charge times.

I wonder if it is possible to make this user configurable? i.e. if a user wants higher speed charging, they can pick a setting which increases the battery partition at the expense of usable range. Whereas the rest of the time, they can get the benefit of the higher range albeit with a bit slower charging.
