I'm confused as to what you mean. I've got the legal document, the thing you digitally sign, and there is no reference to commuting in it. The word "commuting" does not exist in the document.
They have just issued me with 2 certificates of insurance. One covers business use and one covers SD&P. The cover is with a strongly rated insurer.
Ah, you're further along than me then. I've only had the digitally signed email doc so far. I guess business use (Class 1 I assume?) covers commuting by definition doesn't it?

Yes it does.
The definition is "Business Purposes"
So it's wide and will cover all business use. There is a short list of restricted occupations that they list at sign up

Yep, that's what I had confirmed. Basically stuff like deliveries and private hire (taxi/uber) are not permitted as you'd expect but commuting and business travel to customer locations for meetings etc. is fine.

Quick update on the i3 120ah. Range seems to be improving on a 100% charge as the car gets some more miles under it's wheels. 160 was the range first thing this morning with an outside temp of 7 degrees C.

Not sure on everyone else's experience but got a new Android phone last week (Samsung Galaxy) for work and have found the EVEzy app a lot more flaky on it as keeps wanting me to sign in every time I use it (which gets very annoying when walking back to the car across a car park in the rain) unlike the IOS version. Also found that bluetooth audio doesn't work anywhere near as well from Android with iDrive and requires you to control things from the phone itself rather than in-car which is a PITA. This is probably due to me using Apple Music though which of course won't affect everyone.

This is reassuring. I have asked about it again, but currently waiting to hear back myself.

I still think there is potentially a slight issue in that the contract agreement itself says:

"To be eligible for our service the Driver must not:
i. Have been refused motor vehicle insurance or continuance thereof
ii. Use the vehicle for any commercial gain, business or occupation outside of use for social, domestic or pleasure"
etc

So that would mean the agreement would contradict the insurance cover - certainly for business use, and possibly for commuting.

I wouldn't be surprised if they amend the agreement before long. It contains various typos apart from anything else.

How long after you guys filled out the registration form, signed the docs, etc did you get an email or callback to progress it to actually picking a car up?

I'm chomping at the bit having been out of my daily driver for a month and a half while it was repaired I've discovered that I'd saved around £200 just in petrol driving the courtesy car, which did over twice the MPG. I know it sounds ridiculous but until I was forced into that position I hadn't really given it much consideration.

I've had a look at the postcode area where it says my local pickup point is, and it looks like a housing estate? confused

Does someone meet you there or do you just pitch up and drive the car away? What happens if you get there and there is some damage, minor or otherwise? At what point would you be responsible for that?

It turned around very quickly for me and I found them very good if you email/call. Once you've paid the £9.99 registration fee they just need to get approval from the insurer.

I picked my i3 up from the Birmingham depot and although there were a couple of guys milling about I sorted it all out myself. There is a section in the app to record any damage before you drive off so make sure you have a good check around the vehicle.

I'd also advise downloading the "key" for the vehicle to your phone before travelling to the depot just in case you have any signal issues when you arrive although this is unlikely.

I picked my temporary Renault within a week and it could have been next day if I was available.

The Manchester pick up point is a Sainsbury car park and no one from the company was present.

I just checked the app on my way and the booking appeared about 30 mins before collection.

So far I'd say
Their paperwork is a dog's dinner.

Customer service is really good by phone or email

The app worries me but has worked everytime. Every couple of days I have to reconfirm my credentials and that's a bit annoying. Unlocking the car takes about 10 seconds which is ok most of time but a PITA if it's raining.

Now I have seen the insurance paperwork and who it's with I am confident it's done properly.

Did you have to request to see the insurance paperwork, or were you just issued with it without asking?

What's your view on the inconsistency between the insurance cover and the contract agreement with respect to use outside of SDP?

Thanks for the updates from everyone so far. It'll be interesting to see how this evolves.

The insurance documentation is all that matters. The wording on the website changes quite regularly, for example when I first looked at it over a month ago you couldn't even add an additional driver.

It's not just the website - it's in the contract agreement that people sign.

Did you have to ask for the insurance paperwork?

I emailed them this morning and they sent it to me within a few minutes

The certificate is explicit and I have an email from them confirming I can commute and use it for work so I think that covers everything.

I have asked them if they will hire them to businesses as well as individuals. I doubt it, but there would be a big market for short term/pool car use.

I've got a Zoe from them! It was all very easy, app to unlock the car (keep that phone charged!) it's a base spec Zoe though and it seems the cars are really random when it comes to the spec, although the Zoe comes with cruise, nav etc. as standard which is nice.

Some people on Speakev have said they were able to ask for a higher spec over the phone but I had no luck with this.

Got the train down to Birmingham to pick it up, car was brand new and fully charged. 1 charging stop on the way back to Newcastle, it really does seem to do about 120-130miles on the motorway if you stick to the speed limit. Car only has the 22kw charger so it's not exactly rapid like the Leaf etc.

Quick little car, you're supposed to use a cage if you carry pets (have another car for that anyhow).

It came with access to charging networks which apparently I don't have to pay for which is a real bonus. Came with the 3pin plug charger too which saved us on the first night as the car does not use the same cable as the Leaf but we got an adaptor for £100.

Parking it in town for free so that's saved me over £1000/year permit already. For now I'm sticking with the insurance excess as I've never made a claim in my life (famous last words right?). You can add extra people to your account for £10.

I used someone else's referral code so here is mine, 6bd4b , if anyone wants the £50 off.

In theory the individual could hire it and add and remove the drivers as required. The cost is a tenner a driver.

Yes, it appears that wouldn't breach the rules as long as there was no charge. A subrent clearly would breach the rules, so I'd like to see if they will do it. The current costs are so cheap, it could be used as my commute car and for staff as a pool car. It would end up free motoring for me and allow a weekend car that doesn't need to be able to 'commute' biggrin

Well, application approved, just have to wait for the car now. Was really hoping based on other peoples experiences that I would be able to collect it this week, but have been told it'll be a couple of weeks before its delivered (i3 120Ah) frown

Gives me time to gen up on EV and scout out charging locations locally lol smile

That's what happened to me as well. They offered me a Zoe for the intervening period at pro rata cost.

Same here. There's a fair bit to learn about - connector types, charging rates, different networks etc etc.

I've amassed a silly amount of phone apps for different charging networks etc etc (not all of which I'll be keeping).

I can't vouch for its accuracy yet, but https://www.abetterrouteplanner.com looks good for working out range etc for longer trips.

Yup I've been installing EV apps today at work. Seems there's a whole other community of folk that I'm about to be exposed to. I've only got Zap-Map and the official Polar one so far. Currently deciding which I can be bothered to register for.

Quietly hoping that the delay means I (we) will be getting new 19-plate cars, though I know it's not guaranteed.
