Bloody long thread to read everything, so..
Any dealerships/contacts you guys recommend to try out a 3? I'm based in Nottingham.
Whatever your local Tesla dealer is I would guess? https://www.tesla.com/en_GB/findus/list/stores/Uni...Any dealerships/contacts you guys recommend to try out a 3? I'm based in Nottingham.

Any ideas of wait times for a car if I ordered this month?
2-3 months I'd say.Phooey said:
Still have a bit of reading to do on this subject, but being a business owner I think an EV will work out cheaper than another 4x4 pick-up.
Probably, particularly with 0% BIK on the cards in April.Phooey said:
Would probably go for the base model in white. Wouldn't bother with the autopilot thing.
The car comes with Autopilot as standard. "Full Self Driving" is the option.Phooey said:
re the wall charger - does it have to be wired directly into the consumer box or will it just peg onto a normal socket I have in the garage? Just thinking about hiding the cabling to the consumer box around the external brickwork of the house.
Wired into the consumer unit. The car comes with a "granny charger" which plugs in to the mains, but it will be pretty slow to charge and depending on your electrics may trip it.Phooey said:
Anything else I need to know, or a good place to read up on the Tesla M3?

Presumably it will come with the "Granny" lead which plugs into a 13A socket and charges at 10A 2.5KW or so.re the wall charger - does it have to be wired directly into the consumer box or will it just peg onto a normal socket I have in the garage? For faster charging 7KW ish you will have to have a government sponsored "charger" put in or get a standard IEC 60309 32A socket put in and buy your own lead.
The "charger" just tells the car how much power to draw, it doesn't contain any power conversion electronics as such, just does the same as the lead.
If I can get the faster charge (WC) at work, and just use a granny cable at home, I think that'll be enough for my usage - 12-15k miles/pa
Pulled the trigger on a fully loaded blue/white M3P last night, even added FSD against my better judgement. Was so bowled over by the test drive I had that I couldn’t resist.
Things seem to have progressed very quickly since then. Despite being told at the test drive event that deliveries would likely be June, I had a text from Tesla this morning asking me to upload my drivers license to minimise delays, which I’ve done, and my account now appears to no longer allow editing of the spec etc.
Don’t know if that’s significant or not. For what It’s worth I’ve specified that I’m paying in cash with no trade-in.

delivery is pot luck, they make random car model and colour combinations, they dont make to orderThings seem to have progressed very quickly since then. I wanted to get under the wire in case there are any changes to the Plug In grant in March, seems to be conflicting info on it. Then again Tesla change their prices based on rolling a tombola so who knows what will happen.
Was keen to lease but the numbers I've had this year don't really work and peg the anticipated depreciation at 40-45% after 2 years. That seems excessive to me, but then again - who knows.. a 100kWh model would hurt resale on the one I've ordered.
Then again, life's too short - money comes and goes but time only goes.

Bit of a strange business model, but then Tesla doesn't seem to do "normal". I guess there is so much demand that it works.

who knows what's going to happen with the grants, i got lucky as i got mine the week they lowered the price drastically and bundled all the options onto the performance model just before they put the price back up again. 49k for the base performanceI wanted to get under the wire in case there are any changes to the Plug In grant in March, seems to be conflicting info on it. depreciation is going to be interesting, at the moment its next to nothing as demand is massively outstripping supply which should only get worse with 0% bik

True, but by the same token there will be a lot of cars appearing on Autotrader etc after the business lease period ends. depreciation is going to be interesting, at the moment its next to nothing as demand is massively outstripping supply which should only get worse with 0% bik
I must concede I don't really know how the whole BIK, salary sacrifice, etc stuff works, and I don't have access to it anyway just being a lowly employee at a company who does not have an established fleet policy, etc.

Employer in theory also doesn’t even need to pay their NI bit so they are better off overall as far as my calculations have worked out.

Company takes the cost of the car out of your gross salary, which saves you tax and NI etc on that element. Net loss each month therefore comes down.

As a business owner it’s great - the lease and associated costs are deductible from corporation tax, half the lease VAT can be reclaimed and there is no BIK liability so no employers or employees taxes or contributions. It’s rising to 1% next year and 2% the year after.Employer in theory also doesn’t even need to pay their NI bit so they are better off overall as far as my calculations have worked out.

Just need to work out if I can charge the electricity to the company now as well.
I have an e-tron in order, not a Model 3, but I saw one on the road in my local town today and it looked great, much better than on screen.

If any of the guys (and girls) from the Lucknam Park Hotel test drive experience yesterday are reading, giving me an second unattended test drive after I came back too early pretty much sealed the deal.
Turns out that an MP3 is almost as quick on track as a Mclaren F1 after 25 years of tyre development
https://www.teslarati.com/tesla-model-3-vs-mclaren...
Not sure whether this a compliment to the F1 for lasting so long or too Michelin for making track day tyres go so quick, something the original F1 did not have
If the Model 3 wants to really prove it's metal at a track, something the Model S failed to do spectacular at the N ring even with half a new car thrown at it, then feel free to try and replicate this :-
Mclaren 1995 Le Mans
in the next 3 years
Cheers ! Good luck!

Not bad actually, same time as e.g. an AMG A45 https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/tsukuba .
What they've done to it is pretty good, the roll bars, suspension, brakes and wheels.
Why I think a stealth and upgrades is the way to go for track.
The full performance is good for the road.
Still don't think the energy situation makes it a great track option unless you have a supercharger right there
