Of course you don’t.

Doesn’t make it untrue.
I wonder what the issue with Bloonberg is?

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-08-15...

where they say "Tesla sales surged.." must be bogus too I guess - or do we cherry pick?

I am very much looking forward to getting hold of my Evezy Model 3 . BUT.... quality and customer care are good reasons to lease but not to buy one IMHO
Leasing still commits you to s 2-3 year term living with any faults/niggles though. The great thing with EVEZY, and the reason I have gone with it the same as you, is that if there are problems at any point which make running the car an genuine issue it can be handed back almost immediately with no financial penalty.

My sole reason for going for the 3 is that if you are after a reasonably priced, practical, long range and high performing EV they are the only game in town (when you can't get your hands on an iPace). As that changes (Polestar 2, BMW i4 etc.) I'm sure I'll end up in something else of better quality and with much better manufacturer support.

Picked up our Model 3 Performance on Tuesday. Initial thoughts:

  • Handover very chaotic and got the impression they've taken on lots of temporary staff (who don't know much about the cars) to try and cope
  • Looks much better in the flesh than the pictures - but would benefit from a 'black pack' to remove the chrome and gunmetal grey alloys rather than bright silver. Easy enough to do aftermarket if you wanted. Quite colour dependent - we went red with white interior and Iooks good to me, but there were some combos (midnight silver with black interior) that looked dull to my eyes
  • Couple of minor flaws (small paint defect and scratch on alloy) at handover - have logged, but expecting to have to chase to get resolved!
  • It's stupid fast and power at any speed is instant. Head to head against our F-Type R AWD, the Jag doesn't stand a chance
  • Drives well - doesn't feel its weight and low centre of gravity
  • Incredibly quiet - but means the tiny rattle coming from the mobile phone holder (which you would be unlikely to hear in a petrol / diesel) is more noticable. Fixed with mini felt pad
  • Touchscreen UI / UX is a triumph - light-years ahead of any other system. Actually easier to use than our other cars, as you're not trying to figure out what the tiny button with the funny symbol on actually does
  • iOS / Android app - amazing attention to detail and again, years ahead of more established manufacturers
  • Build quality seems reasonably good on ours and plenty of soft-touch materials. Not Audi quality, but nothing to be concerned about
  • For under £60k, I think it represents great value when you take into account performance, technology, etc
  • We opted for FSD package and the Autopilot is very impressive, but slightly unnerving as you have to overcome years of instinct and just let it do its thing. Self park a fun novelty, but hardly essential. If you're doing PCP, 100% leave it off the options list. If you're buying with cash, then 50 / 50

Good write up but please don't get complacent in letting it "do its thing". It will try and kill you at random from time to time. Having had versions of Autipilot since 2015 the best approach I find (accepting everyone is different) is to hold the wheel comfortably (I find the right hand at about the 4pm position is fine and the weight of my arm is enough to keep the nags away) and feel it doing its thing. You'll actually feel it start to go wrong through the steering wheel rather than see it or feel it through the car and you'll be ready to step in. Then you can let your eyes read the road further ahead as things like lane change have to be done much earlier than I found natural to prevent it starting to brake, especially if gaining quickly on a lorry. I actually find it more trouble than its worth in heavish travel if you're changing lane a lot.

I think at this stage, a lot of it is just me not being used to it. I keep my hands on the wheel the whole time ready to take over, but I keep subconsciously turning the wheel when I don't need to, which then takes it out of Autopilot. I think it'll end up using it on motorways, but just driving normally the rest of the time.

I only use it on motorways/dual carriageways. Although it’s able to ‘see’ the road markings on many other roads it’s not really ready for that and can be damned dangerous.

The above advice is sound, and it’s not the holding of the wheel per se, it’s the slight rotational torque that the car is looking for.

I think your summary hits a lot of nails on the head, glad you’re pleased with it.

By request I go back every year onto the Lexus owners forum and give an update on how I’m getting on. It’s good for real world feedback rather than the claptrap many journo’s trot out.

biggrin. We actually would have ordered Silver Metallic if they hadn't discontinued it before it reached the UK

Will do! Another 100 miles or so on it today and acceleration still addictive

Don't worry, I ordered on May 2nd and I haven't been allocated a VIN yet.

Out of interest, how are you informed when the VIN is allocated? Does it appear on your Tesla account?

I got an email and a text with a week long window. Nothing changed in the account except the vin is in the source code of your account page. (ctrl u, search for "vin") . The hidden vin disappeared when spec changed and assume i'm back in the pot. I'm guessing they just randomly allocate.

I guess you have never driven an EV before because the Model 3 is one of the nosiest. Obviously they are all quiet at low speed, but on the motorway it's pretty bad. There are people offering upgrade kits to reduce the noise levels if you are interested.

Be careful with FSD, especially in the UK. As well occasionally trying to murder you, it doesn't seem to have any clue about UK traffic laws and will happily rack up points on your licence. Don't take it's suggestions without first double checking that they are legal.

Otherwise, enjoy, it's a nice car.

Could you post a link to the noise reduction kits please? All Google is giving me are the rubber bands that fit around the glass roof...

Afik tesla have fixed that roof gap themselves now on new cars.

Other options are the door seal pack (check amazon) and general dynamat noise control like bjorn had done which didn't do much.

Do the door seal packs actually make a difference?
