Yes, next years E-tron (non sportback) will get the same updates.

My cars is currently being shipped from Germany and due to land with me in around a week. I 'believe' certain elements of the updates will be available by download to current production models.
Mine is at the dealer’s waiting for me to collect it . Do you know what the upgrades are ?

I saw this one in a pub car park today. Unregistered and still wearing it's protective cover.

Seems more battery availability from the same installed pack, brake drag improvement by pushing the pads away l, some cooling optimisation and disconnecting the front motor for cruising

I think they have simply put stronger pushback springs on the calipers to reduce pad drag. Every little helps I’m sure it’s something more complicated like better brake pressure control during brake demand.

“ On the wheel brakes of the Audi e-tron Sportback, the developers have substantially reduced what is referred to as residual brake torque-the losses that occur during brief application of the brake pads against the disk. This benefits both efficiency and range.”

That’s good news if some of the updates can be done by the dealership

It's the worlds most inefficient EV, so there must be a lot of scope for improvement.

Test drove one, wasn't that impressed. If I was going to get that kind of vehicle I'd get an iPace. Could actually have one for next to nothing on the company car scheme, which is tempting.

Care to share some details? A relative is considering an iPace.

I also test drove an i-Pace and e-tron. i-Pace was much nicer to drive, felt far quicker and more nimble than I expected given its size and 2.2 tonne weight. Interior was OK, but not up to its sticker price. E-tron was nicer inside but felt every bit of its 2.5 tonne weight. If you want an SUV then the i-Pace is a much better drivers car.

However I am not an SUV fan and didn't order either.

I actually preferred the iPace interior. It seemed more modern and I just generally preferred it. The Turd felt like a luxury barge, boring and heavy both in style and driving.

Jaguar also seem to be doing a bit better with over-the-air updates and fixes for issues. Not liking Audi's "buy a new car to update" policy.

An alternative view is that it looks just like every other Audi suv and therefore dull dull dull wink
I genuinely thought that was a picture of one of those SEAT Exeo things.

Just thinking of getting one of these - a Launch Edition.

I figure that we will be pushed into electric vehicles in the next few years and thought I'd take the opportunity to start earlish and see how I get on. Thought of a Model X and and I-PACE but actually quite like the familiarity of the Audi. My days of racing around the country at silly speeds are over and so a 10 mile daily commute and perhaps one 140 mile trip to London a month is my motoring now. The London trip I can do by train sometimes so probably not that much of an issue. I could always drive to Bletchley and catch the train in from there making it a 200 mile round trip. The 150kw chargers on the motorway would be a great help if and when they become available. I will have a charging point installed at work but not at home. Any pointers to the easiest and within reason quickest one to go for would be appreciated. Probably one without a lead as it will be on the front of a building.

It does feel like a massive leap into the dark so if anybody has any tips or warnings of potential pitfalls I would be pleased to hear them.

Thanks

I write and present for a dedicated EV media channel (not allowed to say it on here) and I drove the Mercedes EQC400 on Monday, and now have an e-Tron outside for evaluation. Happy to share my thoughts if you want to PM me.

Seems like an inefficient 2.5 tonne SUV is massive overkill - how about a Zoe ?

Did you see those Tesla drivers queueing a mile this week to charge their cars?

As long as you are only charging at home, them go for it.

But as EV sales rise, investment in the public charging infrastructure won't meet demand for a while, and you don't want to be that early adopter in California this week in that queue.
