I don't think that the weight of the vehicle matters as much in an electric car as for an ICE car because you will harvest more energy under braking in a heavier car than in a lighter car. I don't know if anyone has done calculations on this.
Weight is still critical. Regenerative braking is indeed greater with a heavy car, but it takes far more energy to get that car to the speed you brake from. Took delivery of my E-Tron today.
Only been out briefly in it with one of the kids, but very impressed with it. The noise (or lack of it), the comfort, and the general tech is excellent for a car to cart the family around in.
It came fully charged so not tried out the EVBox Elvi i've had installed, but no doubt will in the next few days. Range when full showing around 230 miles which is fine with me.
Kids are happy also as added screens in the back for them.

Interior size wise, it's about 30cm wider than the A6/Allroad I've tended to have previously. As a result it can sit 5 very comfortably (3 kids ages 6, 10 & 12). The 12 year old being nearly 6 foot and can sit behind either front seat and still have ample leg room.
We have a 300 mile tril to make in it on sunday, so will obviously need to charge at some point, so lers see how that goes. That will be my first ever time charging an EV.

To make your life easier avoid Ecotricity unless you have no other choice, makes sure you have a 'Plan B' in case the charger your planning to use isn't working, and leave extra time incase you need to detour/drive at 50mph to make it to your destination. Also don't forget to check weather, wind direction, which will decrease range.

As above, have a Plan A and Plan B charger just in case Is it 300 miles return or one way? Ideally you'd use destination charging when there on a 7kW post. I'd plan to stop and charge back up to ~80% after about 180 miles and also stick to 70mph.It will be a learning experience and go in with your eyes wide open, it might not be totally smooth sailing until you get used to planning!
Roughly where are you going from/to? We can suggest chargers to use.

We now have an eTron. Why? We needed a big family car (downsizing from a big Jeep). We also liked the look of it in the flesh (although the i-pace probably just wins for 'me' on looks, depending on the angle you're looking at it from )
There is loads of space inside and the boot is BIG (keeping in mind we're used to a massive Jeep). The middle seat folds down independently which was very helpful when transporting a bed the other day with 2 kids in the back, not least to stop them fighting (way more practical than your typical 60/40 split). It is also very well built, and super quiet inside when at speed.
We have also just completed a 260 mile round trip (130 miles each way), pretty much motorway all the way. Now.... I tend not to hang around on the motorway so I had to get used to being a bit more 'relaxed' but at 80mph(ish) the range was ~190 miles with the current weather conditions (it's cold and wet). I suspect I'd easily be well into the 200+ miles of range for the same trip during the Spring / Summer months. If I was to drop it down to 70mph, way way more. I know the eTron gets a load of bad press here but for me, that's not bad at all and actually, quite competitive for 'real world' driving (you'll likely be stopping before the car runs out of juice).
As for charging, I must admit I felt a bit on edge not having access to my home charger for the night we were away but I managed to charge for free at the local shopping centre (7kW) and I topped up with a rapid charge on the Polar network. It was a doddle, just tap your credit card and go. (Keep in mind you may need to press the charge port button to release the cable once done, not as intuitive as my i3 which automatically unlocks the cable when you unlock the car via the key).
Overall, pleasantly surprised.

You'll find that many 'destination' shopping centres / supermarkets are installing free to use 7kW charge points. Normally, you don't have to sign up to any network to use them, just park up, plug in your cable (you need to have your own Type 2 AC charging cable) and off you go. They typically operate via an app to activate the socket (Pod Point is most common - very easy to use if you're familiar with parking apps).How is the free charger funded= are you part of some network?

As for POLAR, I used the lazy tap and pay method = 0.35p kWh, which is fair for the convenience. If you choose to sign up to their network, you can make savings.

I've been driving the etron this week and it is a nice place to be . I haven't done any motorway driving yet but the average is 1.7miles / kWh ( which is about 30% less than the i pace ) .
My wife is reluctant to drive it due to the size - she's still using her i3 - or maybe she wants to use the Jag ... who knows

When comparing them I found the e-tron disappointingly small inside for it's size.My wife is reluctant to drive it due to the size - she's still using her i3 - or maybe she wants to use the Jag ... who knows
I think the boot isself isn't any bigger than the i pace's.
On the outside it's a substantially bigger car though. A lot of it is in the back seat area and the bonnet.
Edit: Just looked them up (carbuyer) and its worse than I thought.
