Speaking of efficiency, I managed a fairly decent (for such a big, heavy car) 35.7kWh/100miles today on mainly 60 mph free flowing A roads with 4 in the car at a relatively chilly 7 degrees C. This equates to ~240 miles of range, way above the advertised EPA figure of 204 miles.

2.8 miles per kwh
as before

double that for an Ioniq 4.4 - anyone know why?

I can get >5mi/kWh on my i3 - in the summer but I’m yet to drive the eTron in the summer - but it is a totally different proposition. Smaller in size, lighter, much smaller battery (= lighter again). The massive 95kW battery in the eTron, of which only 83.6kW is used, doesn’t help. Or the steel chassis vs carbon-fiber for the i3 etc etc

The i3 is a great car, but the eTron is much much better and more comfortable for longer trips. It’s a bit like comparing a Range Rover to a Mini for a long cruise.

I tend to cruise a little bit faster on motorways wink and in this current weather I’m getting ~190 miles range. In milder weather I’d guesstimate well over 200 miles range. I’ll find out soon enough smile

Does the cold impact the audi as bad as it does a tesla? I get 25-40% less range when it's cold out.

Having only had the eTron a few weeks in the winter, I’m not sure how much better it will be in the spring / summer yet. I’ll keep you posted.

Looking at other forums though, it appears that Audi has been conservative on the headline range figure. It’s probably their way to manage expectations in all conditions for their target market (likely to be existing ICE Audi drivers). A bit of a shame as it’s all anyone tends to focus on.

Interesting what you say about Tesla’s in the winter. At the risk of facing the wrath of Tesla fans (Although I am also a fan), I know someone with a shiny new M3 who struggled to get 140 miles the other day. But... it has an EPA range of 250 miles so that’s ok then... (is there an issue with their M3? I’m not sure but I’ll update if I find out)

Having watched Bjorn's video of the 1000km challenge in the etron I was surprised to see that despite being significantly less efficient than the Teslas it still completed the 1000km in good time due to the sustained high charging speeds in comparison to how the Teslas taper off.

Once the HPC network grows more the lack of efficiency will hardly matter when you need go on longer journeys. There are a lot of new HPCs coming online from Polar, Instavolt, Shell, Ionity etc so things are looking up for the non-Tesla EVs out there.

Pretty chuffed to say ive ordered an E-tron!

Its going to replace a 2015 Leaf Tekna 24kw ive had since new. The Leaf was only ever my 25 miles commuter and around town car and as that brief, it was excellent. The E-tron will now enable us to easily make family trips 100+ miles away.

We've gone for cheap lease on the 50 Technik model with 71kw battery, 65kw usable. Given the figures above (2.5m/kw) it should be good for minimum 150miles, maybe 170+ in summer with a smaller, lighter battery. Deal was via dream leasing, who were v helpful, though the funder (Lex autolease) made the business finance approval abit long and complex. Its seemed a fantastic build and by no means poverty (air sus, LED lights, heated elec seats, MMI/virtual dash, electric boot, remote heating) which was fine as it was a decent chunk cheaper than the 50 s-line and bigger battery 55's. I did consider a new 40kw leaf but its too similar to my current leaf. The 50 Technik was only £80pm more than the 62kw leaf. But the big winner to bring the price down is running it as a company car as my wife has become ltd in 2019, my man maths reckons £442 on 6/35 5k pa will cost under £300pm after tax. Weve added heated steering and sound/comfort pack £50pm as its over 3 years and the company is paying! Delivery end of April, cant wait!

The missus preferred it over the I-pace. That became a no as the lease prices jumper £5k/3years since xmas. I went for standard Black and standard 20" 5 spokes. Had quotes for metallic and different wheels. Years I would of been vein but decided to spend the extra on the things inside I can enjoy like the BOSE!!

Ive read the standard audi black can be a scratch-fest so hope to detail and ceramic coat it as soon as it arrives!

Charging infrastructure is coming along nicely, however the etron does need a lot of power, as per this charging chart.

I think 2.5 miles per kWh may be optimistic . Our long term average ( lots of short trips since dec ) is 1.7 .....

I think if you have 150kw chargers where you need them it'll be fine, most people most times wont need to charge on the go anyhow

Ouch! Checked the app and Ive only been getting 2.85m/kwh in my 24kw leaf since December. About 500 miles in total, all short journeys to work, gym, shops, heating usually on low. On 21kw usable in the leaf that's 58miles...…. Even1.7 = theoretical 110 miles on a 65kw usable in e-tron so that's still double the leaf!

On longer runs ( 30 miles ) we've had up to 2.2 ( and it has all been winter miles ) so hopefully that will get better .

That's hilariously bad for 60 MPH. The Turd really is worst-in-class by a long, long way.

Charging on octopus go’s night tariff at , say 2 miles / kWh the cost for 10000 miles in the etron would be £250 . Even on a 15p / kWh if you went to say 2.5 miles per kWh that’s only £150pa saving . Hardly the end of the world to enjoy a nice car .
If you home charge on a good tariff and don’t want to do long trips , efficiency hardly matters does it ?

And stop using that swear word to describe the Etron . How old are you ? 12 ?
Alternatively , invite us to play in your playground , tell us what you drive and we will continually slag off your choice of car by using equally childish names as often as we can .

Seems like a recent resurgence of decent lease offers on these so I’ve ordered a 55 (the new 2020 spec). I had originally looked at this and the I-pace but decided against spending so much money but at £550 on a 6-+35 business lease @15kpa it seemed like a much better proposition.

Has anyone put any significant mileage on one?

It's literally the name they gave it, I can't help that!

Take your complaint to Audi.
