Picking up my new car tomorrow; originally ordered February 2nd so to say I'm excited is an understatement...

330e M Sport
Portimao Blue
Oyster Leather
Tech Pack
Comfort Pack
Premium Pack

Pre-virus, I was doing 20,000 per year. Now I work from home and do probably 5k per year. The car meanwhile was ordered on a 20k/PA lease, so somebody will be happy with the residuals after the 3 years is up I reckon!
There will be lots in the same position, ours had done 8000 in the first 10 weeks or so (Landed Nov) and it now just sat over 11k.
Been the perfect car for a pandemic situation though lol, enjoy smile

Well that was a debacle....

We took a 90 mile drive down to Cheltenham to find my new 330e (see prev post) sitting outside the dealer in the bright sunlight. Same with a colleague who had trained it down from Manchester for his Grey one as well.... Dealer then very apologetic that we cannot take them because BMW have put a hold today on registering new 330e's due to a possible fault in the High Voltage systems. Apparently this is affecting the whole UK network and no new 330e's will leave forecourts until the issue is resolved.

Whether than means somebody ticking a box tonight on a server in Germany or parts needing to be shipped to resolve the issue and all other's get a recall, I don't know. Dealer (Cotswold) did their very best to help and gave me a 320d Estate (new shape) to drive home in and keep until our car is ready. Must be a few dealers across the country paying for train tickets, taxi fares or providing complimentary loan cars today to disappointed customers; not their fault, but embarrassing for the brand.

Bimmer... I mean Bummer :-(

Got mine on the 23rd July I haven't heard about a recall yet or seen any faults just ticked over 1100 miles.

Got mine early December. I should have done about 14k by now, but currently done only 6k due to Covid and WFH!

Ditto but mine is on 7k miles. I should have opted for the Audi E-Tron but expected to be doing longer journeys.

I last put fuel in mine March 8th. I usually do 20k per year, but for obvious reasons I've done less than 200 miles in the last 5 months. My new 330e (see above) was ordered in Feb with a 20k PA mileage. Now my job has me working at home for the long term, I'll be lucky to do half that.

Mine is due for delivery next week.

I hope it doesn’t get pushed back.

Has anyone had a windscreen replacement yet?

Mine was smashed by a branch and after 3 attempts and visits from different fitters they couldn’t recalibrate the driver assistance (lane departure).

A week later I took the car to BMW who also couldn’t recalibrate it as I picked up a 2mm stone chip right in the screen in front of the camera so had to have yet another screen fitted.

Finally after about 6 weeks I’m not getting any warning messages for driver assistance failure

Any chance you can check with your dealer? In theory no 330e can be delivered according to my dealer as the block comes from Germany. I mean I saw the car on site so they are clearly being open with us, but would be interesting to know.

Cheers mate, although without wanting to worry you, my dealer only found out on the morning of collection when they tried to register the car with BMW, until that point everything was fine; they are sitting there registered, taxed and insured but we cannot drive them away! So unless they have tried to register a 330e since Tuesday, they may not know anyway :-(

I'll be chasing Cotswold in the morning anyway myself.

No worries.

I was advised of my reg this week, but I suppose that’s irrelevant if your car was registered too.

I’ll let you know what the response is. It’s due for delivery early next week so let’s see what happens.

My dealer has put my VIN into the system and says there is no recall noted so the car is good to go next week..... watch this space.

For those of you having lived with these since new, how well do you think they will hold up over time?

In other words: would you buy them for yourself second hand to run for another 6-8 years?

I'm always skeptical about hybrids since they combine the complexity and maintenance of both an ICE and an EV. I can see Toyota getting that to work reasonably, but the Germans? They scream money pit to me after they are out of warranty, but more and more will pop up second hand so they might be tempting.
I had a 66 reg one from new as a company car on a 2 year 36k mile contract
Mine was constantly throwing error messages related to electric running, and the dealers were unable to diagnose why they kept on appearing.
It also lost most of the oil out of the gearbox 3 months into my contract, which resulted in it being off the road for 2 months waiting for BMW to supply a new box. When putting it back together, it was discovered that the gearbox ÉCU was also faulty, and so that also needed replacing
I was informed that the cost of all that came to a sum north of £20k. Add to that the cost of 2 months car hire, then it was a costly experience.
Based purely on my personal experience, I wouldn’t touch one with a very long barge pole if it was out of warranty or would go out of warranty in my tenure
Furthermore, based on experience with a 335d I did buy afterwards, the approved warranty has proven to be a complete waste of money as well.

As a counter, my 2017 F30 330e has just gone back with 85k miles on the clock, with no issues other than routine servicing.

It’s been replaced by a G20 330e.

The only issue I had was as a result of the car being stolen from my house after a burglary for the keys.

The replacement lock set and controller took 5 weeks to come from Germany.

I had my F30 for 2 years with zero issues and the G20 for nearly a year is the same.

Congrats mate. Our two cars are still behind lock and key at the dealer with no word on why BMW won't release them. Dealer also says it affects 530e and mini hybrids apparently. We couldn't have worse luck if we tried after waiting 6 months for delivery due to Covid :-(
