It was only an issue with cars built in July. The actual problem was for the welding inside the battery unit. Reading the BMW forums, the affected cars are now being fixed and delivered.

Mine was built in June delivered in July I put my reg in on the BMW website and there are three recalls on mine one being the battery.
I rang BMW and the Only date I can get it booked in is 30th October they never said not to charge it.

On my way home this evening I've had a message to not use the paddles to change gear or manually with the stick do NOT charge the battery and turn the battery save down to 30%.

BMW think six hours to fix.

Just checked my December 2019 delivered car and appears it has an outstanding “enhancement,” code 0061430500

My July built car is still being held by BMW UK
Are people getting their cars released or has my car just gone up in smoke!?

Ordered January and it has been in the UK since 22nd August

My X3 PHEV was built in early August, arrived at Southampton mid-Sept and is being held at the docks pending repair. Allegedly I'll get it by the end of the October, but my dealer says this is 50/50 as they have 8 new cars affected and it's a full-day fix per car. Add to that all of the recalls being done and some of these cars could take a while - I don't know if they'll prioritise new car orders over a safety recall on cars already in use.

BMW had my car in for the recall work on Friday I collected it and all they had done was hoovered it out.
They did tell me that they currently have no idea when a fix will be available for the battery but when they know they will write to me!!!!!

So you are driving around in a hybrid not allowed to use the battery as it may cause "a thermal event" ?
And no ETA on a fix

..nice

Worse than that is being messed about with needing to drop off and pick up the car when there was never going to be a fix. I would not have been impressed with that waste of time.

Looks like Ford have the same issue. Battery replacement is the fix and they aim to have all cars fixed next year sometime.

Exactly waste of a day for me they might as well have rang me and said 'don't bother fetching the car in because we are clueless as to what we are going to do to fix it.'

Only two issues so far with my September collection, anybody else found that the auxiliary heating button on the key fob does nothing when pressed? I have it set correctly in the car settings to use that button to switch on the heater etc, but it never seems to work. Also my mirrors don't fold equally; the driver one stays slightly more open than the passenger side; first world problem I know, but it does my OCD in!

Have you tried keeping the auxiliary button pressed for a few seconds?

Looks like there's a solution to the not charging problem.
Two weeks I'm guessing replacing the batteries.

Mine goes in tomorrow for the recall to replace the charger and have a sticker stuck on the charging flap.

Got the new lead yesterday and typically this error message appears today...

I live 40 mins from the BMW dealership so hopefully it goes away. Apparently the recall message won't disappear from the screen until BMW receive the old charging lead back, which is quite annoying.

Had the message pop up to contact BMW as they now have a fix for the battery but this could take three weeks so I contacted my local dealer and book the car in for the 18th and ask what vehicle they will be giving me for period they will have my car to be told that they won't be supplying me a vehicle for the three week period due to covid.
What a shower of ste.

Leave getting it booked in until they can supply a car?
