For those that need to travel further between charges, there's a 2WD option becoming available soon. Lower losses, so greater range, cheaper too.

The recent OTA update added about 15% efficiency over the same route.

Note: the OTA update has been successful for about 90% of cars.

Mine has surpassed my expectations so far; for my needs it's frankly an excellent vehicle on so many levels.
From what I've read they've basically unlocked another 1.5-2kW of battery capacity and improved the charge curve. Not sure how that would deliver 15% more efficiency in the same conditions, most reviewers have mentioned a handful of extra miles not 25-30?

I understand there is also an improvement in the initial phase of driving, i.e. heating the system up is more optimised, so shorter journeys are noticeably more efficient.

ETA: The typical commute is 15 miles each way on cold mornings. Since the update (similar temperatures) it's using 12Kw for the round trip rather than 14Kw.

An interesting video.

I bought my Tesla 3 quite recently and was completely agnostic about which EV to buy... I have two thirsty V8 cars besides the Tesla, so it's not my only vehicle.

I thought the Tesla won on a couple of counts - the fact that it's an unashamedly EV car. It's not trying to be like a petrol car in any way and I like the difference. The range seems better than most. And finally the charging infrastructure was, and remains, leagues ahead of anyone else.

The Polestar looks better from the outside, although the Tesla's looks have grown on me from 75% of angles. I actually prefer the minimalist interior of the Tesla.

I'd still buy the Tesla ahead of the new Audi, the Polestar and the Porsche - maybe this is because I have other cars. If it was my only car? Not sure. Probably still would - because of the charging network.
This is exactly where I am rofl (without yet owning an EV) I know Tesla have a poor quality record, but the ease of use with the range and charging network always brings me back to Tesla.

The Vantage will never be sold but I can also see myself keeping the XFR just as a backup.

I had the same, though the Polestar might have tempted me, having had nothing other than ICE's in the past the range would have scared me away. Now that I've adjusted to an EV, I'd have less issue with it.

As said, I do 200+ miles/day on a regular basis (if I'm allowed out of the house), but most of the time when doing so I could rely on destination charging. So 150 miles each way wouldn't be an issue with the Polestar 2, if you have destination charging.

The SuC network was also an USP for me, but again, only used it when I had a temporary 75D. Never really with my own car. Would have gone on a couple vacations (south of France) last year, but we all know what happened to those so can't really comment on that... I can imagine the extra chargers being very helpful then.

I was also where NDA was, with two V8sin the household and wanting an EV for short trips.

However, being less worried about the EV as a London runabout, I leased a Nissan Leaf instead.

And I love it.

If you can make it work, a Twizy is way more fun than it has any right to smile. I'd have one in a heartbeat if I could make the range work and had to get through London on a regular basis.

I use a bicycle for the office (or used to), so the car has to ferry kids. Otherwise I'd love the little Renault.

Looked at the P2, liked it, but was a bit underwhelmed.

When I finally have to go all EV one day when London bans ICE cars (which it will), it will be something more fun like the new Audi GT.

My CLS63 AMG will probably be sold soon as I am just not using it. Shame, as I love it but just no point to it now.

I'm sure it will be fine. 100 miles each way, plus 9hrs on site, I always stop for a coffee on the way home so worst case - just like in the Zoe for the last few months, £2.50 of Ecotricity, and a coffee and I'm on my way. TBH, do it in the shed now, just don't plug in. Never personally had a problem with Ecotricity either, stop early, knowing I've got another two services in range.
Also, if you're on the standard 19" wheels they give you an extra 20+miles of range.
The P2 in the Carwow video was fitted with the Performance Pack option which comes with 20" wheels.

This is a helpful range calculator on the P2 website : https://www.polestar.com/uk/ownership/tools/range

I may also have a little flat 6 to supplement the EV.... you know, for days when you need to get across Europe at express pace, sometime in 2022 / 3 when Covid is over....

Cheers, that's really really good to know, shows how little thought and research I put into this. Must not be quite so impulsive next time!

So if the OTA update adds maybe 10 miles, and you get another 10-20 for sensible daily wheels, I'm looking down the barrel of a very realistic 225, which is more than enough. Later in the year, we will have loads of chargers at the site I'm based at anyway, and to be honest, on the daily commute, even at 5am, I tend to keep it to 65-70mph. I gave up the 90mph outside lane tailgating lunacy years ago. I guess having already had the Zoe for a while, the initial range anxiety and all those concerns have gone out of the window.

Radar cruise and a decent stereo is far far more important on long commutes.

Think the conversation with my wife went along the lines of.... 'F**k I've just opted back into the Company Car scheme and ordered a Polestar!' Followed by uh, okay, what's one of those, whatever, hope its not b***dy white, if it makes you happy....

3rd March, new company car / car allowance policy issued. Logged in, wow, the game has moved on. Tesla LR (no Performance for some reason and no S), ID3 Touring, Polestar and all the usual Audi / BM / Merc stuff that was always on there. Hmmmm, OK. So I hand my £7,200 allowance back, take a PS2. Take-home drops £300 a month with a bit of cashback, Tax goes up £16. Pressed the button there and then, Magnesium and Slate.

I'm putting £250 of diesel in my shed every month before I even Tax, Insure, MOT and service it. No brainer.

Then started reading up on the forums, range issues, stuff doesn't work, OTA updates, have I made a grave mistake???

10 days later dealer has confirmed receipt so no going back. 3yrs of pain, or actually a really really nice daily.

Wife has a Zoe and I've been running it as my daily for the last few months whilst she's been home working, and that has been brilliant.

Oh well!
It will be fine, I have had mine since November and it’s been spot on, have only done a couple of long trips and had to charge but both times were quick and uneventful.

A colleague got his the same time and does 1500 miles a week.

Thank you - that's reassuring. I like quick and uneventful (when refuelling / recharging anyway!)

Got my Polestar in Wednesday. Very strange getting a car without having even seen one in the flesh nevermind not test driving it...

Anyway first impressions are very very good, the way it picks up speed is quite alarming (in a good way) it just feels like a high end product and Im really pleased with the thunder colour which looks absolutely nothing like the pictures on Polestars website!

Im not going to get anywhere near the claimed range as I mostly do short journeys but I have successfully used the free CCS charger which is a 2 minute walk from house which is rather handy!

Question to the owners out there - and again showing lack of research here - are there any 'Polestar' preferred networks in terms of public charging?

Just curious if there are any affiliated discounts for certain charging networks that are actually worthy of use and not just marketing gimmicks to track your location and send you spam and adverts.

You get a plugsurfing card but it useless and dont get preferential rates with it. So short answer.

No.

Not sure if they are still doing it but mine (November 20) came with a free 1 year BP Pulse subscription and £450 of free credit.

Mine is thunder and it looks nothing like the configurator like you say...

In dull light it looks a bit like the flat grey you get on audis and in sunshine it almost looks like a blue colour.

3k miles in mine now and I am very pleased with it.

Sounds really good, it was second on my list. I wanted to go for the colour that shows the least dirt (company car, illegal to wash them).

I've ordered Magnesium, hope its nothing like it looks on the configurator either! Hoping its a funny flat white with that changes a bit as you walk around it. If anyone has had an M2 Comp, a bit like Hockenheim Silver. ie. not a traditional metallic silver (which I hate).
