The interior has a proper dash too, and the fit and finish will be leagues ahead of a wonky flatpack Tesla.

Not sure why anyone would buy a Model 3 over this.

EV prices are nuts though.
Styling is subjective, as is image, so there are 2 reasons people may go for the Tesla. The Tesla is also quicker, has more tech, longer range and the backup of the Supercharger network.

Personally I'd go for the Polestar 2 as would fit all of my needs and to my eyes is a better looking car and will certainly be better built, but can understand the appeal of the Tesla.

On the EV pricing thing, the Model 3 P does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, has a panoramic roof, autopilot features and lots of other tech. Find me a brand new ICE powered car that offers all of that for £50k? The C63, RS4 and M3 are all slower and less well equipped yet retail at £60-65k+ without options.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but 0-62 times and "quicker" just looks like willy-waving. The right amount of power to create a balanced car is more important to me. The tech thing isn't a convincing argument - P2 will have the next generation of ADAS which is just as good as Autopilot. Android in the car will be far better than Tesla's home-grown in car entertainment and control system. You can't even use your own Spotify account in a Tesla!

The Supercharger network is good, but accounts for only a minority of public charging stations. I'm also unsure I like the proprietary nature of it. Fortunately the European spec Model 3 supports CCS. Public CCS chargers will massively outnumber Superchargers in a few years.

Don't get me wrong, the Model 3 is a great car, but it has too many compromises.

Ah now that makes it far more appealing to me than the Model-3. Can it tow?

Going to have a look at the Polestar 2 at Goodwood tomorrow. Any questions to ask?

Doubt you'll get an answer but I'm curious how much the performance package with the Ohlins is likely to be on top of the base price.

If you can take a tape measure and measure the dimensions of the boot, that would be splendid biggrin

Sat in the car at Goodwood today and given a demo of the technology

- car looks great in the flesh they had two on show one of which you could sit inside
- quality of panel fit and paint excellent
- interior quality looked excellent the centre console between the seats is high so you sit in a bit of a cockpit type of feel.
-The graphics were excellent with 4 main areas of tile. Reaction to voice input seemed quick. Google maps and traffic info very clear.
- on entering a destination it shows what the remaining charge will be at the destination
- plenty of room in the rear
- boot holds just over 400 litre flat floor with good storage underneath. Small area at front is for charging cables. So not masses of room but adequate
- performance pack I was told could be around 5000 euros which I thought was a bit expensive although options look good
- glass roof nice but doesn’t open
- will charge at 150kw so you could get 80% charge in c 20 mins
- first U.K. cars to arrive June

Overall I was impressed quality of finish looks a lot superior to Tesla.

You can register for test drives which will start in January

Folk who ordered a Model 3 must be reading that summary and thinking "oh st".

Time to switch your deposit across and join another queue!
Agree and it was a pre production model so they say there are areas they can still improve upon before production rolls out

One further point there is an opening in the rear seats for golf clubs etc

Also sat in the Polestar 1 and that had a fantastic finish but lacked the Google software which was Volvo based.

Signs are very encouraging now need to drive one!

The Model 3 is a great car, very accomplished, and I've no doubt the Polestar 2 will come nowhere near to a M3 with performance pack for acceleration. I stopped caring about that kind of thing when I grew up though. As a total package, the Polestar 2 beats it hands-down.

Anyone who cancels orders just before delivery because a better EV has just been announced is going to end up never buying a car. The market is just advancing too fast at the moment.

By the time the Polestar 2 comes out in 2021 something better will have been announced for 2023 delivery.

Isn’t that just the top spec £50k model?

Sat in this at Goodwood and echo the poster above. However headroom in the back was very tight for me at 6foot.

Can you fit a couple of small dogs in the boot? or is it more salon like the 3?

In the reveal they had a pretty large dog in the boot and showed how the hatch opens. It looked more dog friendly than the model 3.
