Our leasing firm have sent us a "special offer" for a maintenance plan for our Polestar 2, this covers stuff like tyre replacement (due to damage or wearing out), brake pads and discs, service costs etc. The cost of this runs to about a grand ex. VAT (we're on a business lease). I'd be astonished if we got through a set of brakes in three years, tyres well we have 20" wheels so they could be the thick end of a grand if we had to replace all four but as we have the single motor model I'd expect we'll just have the fronts to do, if at all (barring punctures etc).

On the face of that it doesn't seem worth springing for the maintenance plan but the bit I don't know is service costs. We're told it's every two years or 18k miles, we're not high-mileage users so we'll almost certainly only have to do that once during the lease. What's the going rate for servicing a P2? I can't imagine there's much for them to do so hoping it's not much!
Well the first three years servicing is included, and probably amounts to a brake fluid change and pollen filter at two years old.

I also have the 20” wheels and had to replace two damaged tyres which ended up being £270 per tyre.
Ah fair point - thanks, I'd forgotten the servicing was included.

Our car came with Continental PremiumContact 6 tyres on it. They'll be fine except possibly in the worst of winter, tempted to get a good set of all seasons, put them on and store the Contis until it's time to return the car and swap them back. That should come to a fair bit less than the maintenance plan.
54,000 miles, two and a bit years, 3-4mm left on all four original tyres. 300kw AWD.

Impressive, don’t go easy on it either.

Question for everyone. Has anyone had this clanking sound from the front suspension? It’s a bit muffled but very evident at the end of the video.

My Polestar 2 - Dual Motor full power is going back in a couple of weeks after a 2 year lease and 20,000 miles.

Overall it has been a good experience. The comfort, power and looks have been the standout features for me. The matrix headlights are also the best I have ever had on any car. The glitchy tech and slight wear on the outside edge of the drivers seat cushion have been the only downsides.

I have never charged on the public network as I only use the car for commuting into Central London. It has been a perfect choice for that task.

I am going to a Hyundai Ioniq 5, just to try something different. I believe it will be comfortable and I like the quirky looks. A bit less power than the Polestar but better range.

That sounds broken, mine doesn't do that.

Haha, it absolutely sounds broken! Wondering whether it's the infamous XC40 strut mounts. Either way, it's going back to Volvo yet again rolleyes

I know how you feel; mine has just been back again for an aircon bracket which should have been fixed six months ago.

I’m now using a different dealer and they have been fantastic.

What spec is it? I am around that for a dual motor with pilot lite, plus and performance packs and 12k miles. Interest rates have gone up since then though so I reckon it's decent for a top spec car but poor for a single motor, short range with no packs

A couple of my staff have SM Polestar’s and both have had something done under warranty for clunking (I think one was a driveshaft).

170kW is MY23 and seemingly no packs. Seems expensive to me for the base model

Be interested to hear your thoughts comparing them after a little use.

We have a Kona EV: test drove the Ioniq 5 just for kicks a few months ago. Liked it, but it was just a 40 minute spin. Obvs much bigger than our Kona!

it’s (2021) 170kW 78kWh Long Range single motor:-
£480 for 4 years 40k
£510 for 3 years 30k

Incl Maintenance & Insurance etc

I get daily 4 hours free charging at the office. I go a couple of times a month.

Man maths, i’ll save £150 a month on fuel, when taking advantage of free work charging/come to the office bribe.

So £330 a month.

Will check with the boss!

No fees if I leave or get the boot

What are their prices like for a 2024 model? Given the now short period of time before the first deliveries arrive, it’d be worth waiting for the improvements (acceleration, rwd, range) if you do any sort of distance driving.

For comparison, I’ll be paying just over £600 net for a 2024 Long Range Single Motor with Plus and Pilot packs over 48 months, 15k per year, all inclusive as a 40%er. The same without the packs would be £550.

My order placed two weeks ago is due October.

Yeah, I have to say, customer service from my local Volvo dealer has been nothing short of shameful. Unfortunately they're a fair distance from me, and any alternative is going to be even further away.

My 2023 LRDM with Plus,Pilot lite and Performance is about £520 net but when I include student loan, my marginal rate is 63%. I'm clearly benefitting from the changes in interest rates since ordering in August otherwise I'd be cancelling for a 2024 mainly for the better headlights as I haven't had delivery yet. I'd maybe consider it more for the single motor as the changes are more significant...

I'm paying £616 (PCP) on a 2023 LRDM with pilot lite and plus packs.. the £8k deposit might make a slight difference to those monthlys laugh
