So......

I am going to be controversial and say I didn't go ahead with my order...

Rightly or wrongly I popped for a Tesla Model 3, my reasoning is currently it's such a risk relying on the other brands of chargers. I attempted in our PHEV as a test to see if I could charge at all the places I'd need to on my 'normal' work area.

Most of the Ecotricity ones were either blocked or just didn't work. Then coupled with the one or two bay availability.

Now it's fully possible poor reliability will mean my Tesla won't get there anyway but it opens such a different avenue. Not only do you have the 'normal' charge network but the vast bank of Superchargers..

I have no doubt the Polestar will be a better built car as will the VW ID but until the network is expanded ( and I blame Ecotricity ) on the motorway it's more of a risk I was happy to take in one jump. Maybe for the next car smile

Ecotricity sounds like a nightmare hope they fix their chargers.

Tesla adding CCS to the 3 was a good move opens out the charging in Europe (and NZ) a lot

still cant even reserve a polestar 2 here :/

Tesla were forced to add CCS, it wasn't a choice. EU rules require that all cars now have either CCS or CHAdeMO. Unfortunately chargers are allowed to have only one of the two.

New rules are also requiring public chargers to have card payment. Tesla are missing out on the incentives to install chargers because theirs are not public.

i believe they where on the EU committee that set the CSS type 2 (combo 2) as an EU wide standard

And no one forced them to put it on the nz cars either. It's just the right choice for those markets

Watching the Chinese backed aggression against the people of Hong Kong tonight I have decided I can’t buy Polestar. Appreciate a lot of stuff is made in China but you have to start somewhere and stand alongside the people of Hong Kong. Beating people brutally with batons and using water canon is totally beyond a civilised society

Did you cite that reason to Polestar when you cancelled, and what was their reaction?

I must say I do sympathise with what you're saying. I'm not quite ready to bin my order (who knows, HK might trigger a wider democracy movement in China). I may yet end up in a CPO Tesla in 8 months time.

Watching today’s events it seems the protesters themselves are getting overly aggressive. Not doing their case much good IMO.

Same reason I can't buy a Tesla, the US state's brutality towards its own citizens, especially black ones, and it's inhumane treatment of immigrants in concentration camps, cannot be supported.

The configurator on Polestar's website has been updated to show the GBP price. It's £49,900. No indication of whether that includes government grants, fees, or tax.

Bit of a shame it doesn't update the price when you add options as well, unless they are all free choices?

I don't think they've decided what the full options and prices well be yet. The basic pain will be black, other colours are optional metallics. It seems likely that the 19" wheels will be the basic spec. The only other option announced is the Performance Pack, which just doesn't look like it justifies the price.

I think justifying the price depends largely on what you're after out of it, those Ohlins DFV dampers aren't going to be cheap at all, nor are the Brembo brakes. I'm not sure what the performance upgrade works out at but if you're a keen driver then both of those could well be upgrades worth having, especially when you look at the braking performance on the likes of the Tesla model 3 out of the box (outbraked by an AMG G63 according to Top Gear), anything this big and bulky is going to benefit from good brakes.

Much like the performance pack on the Model 3 I don't see the point if you are only going to use the car on the road, especially in the UK. 20" wheels and stiffer suspension are just going to ruin the ride and those brakes are only going to make a significant difference on track?

They do all look nice though and great for telling your mates about down the pub. smile

My thoughts exactly, SWoll. I'm never going to take the car anywhere near a track, and I want to regenerate as much energy as possible when stopping, not bleed it away as heat. The standard brakes will be more than adequate I'm sure. I spend most of my time commuting or with kids in the car, so comfort is most important to me.

It's a subject currently close to my heart. Those of us waiting on an M3P from EVEZY have been informed that after months of being told that the cars will be P- spec on 18" wheels and standard suspension we are now going to get cars with the PUP pack..

Now, I much prefer the look of the cars on the 20" wheels but having run a similarly setup Audi A6 for a couple of years I was hoping for something with a bit more 'compliance' for uk roads. I could swap to an LR I suppose but that would likely further delay things and I wouldn't get the crazy performance I've been looking forward to..

Tesla had a bunch of P- spec cars in stock if you're not dead set on leasing via EVEzy.

Back on topic, I hope the P2 subscription rate is competitive. The car just ticks every box for me.
