It doesnt appear to be a compliance car, somewhat aimed for the JDM but I guess why not sell in Europe to offset some fines?
Not sure how its marketed in Japan or if they have much of an EV scene outside of the leaf.
I'd agree, Japan has a raft of even smaller one and two seater EVs coming to market in the next couple of years, these probably won't come to Europe much like the ICE micro cars of the past. Not sure how its marketed in Japan or if they have much of an EV scene outside of the leaf.
I'm not convinced of the theory that they built this to fail. It'll be interesting to see how many sell here though.
Manufacturers are going different ways on small EV cars. Mini, Fiat 500, Honda E are going for the 'designer' market and smaller battery. Corsa/208, Zoe are going for standard looking superminis with a bigger battery of 40KWh or more. It makes the car heavier but it's a 200+ mile range.
Depreciation for the 'designer' cars might be more than the 'standard' cars in a few years when battery tech is better again than it is now (superminis with 50KWh or more and 300 mile range?) and these things do less than 150 miles.

Just had a test drive in the new Honda-e. What a cool little car.
Tiny turning circle. Very narrow. Excellent suspension. Peppy performance.
Thinking seriously now about replacing our 3 year old Leaf with one.
Oh interesting. Hmm this car would sit next to my work car Leaf 62+. Did you test drive the performance version or the base?Tiny turning circle. Very narrow. Excellent suspension. Peppy performance.

The performance one. Although it isn't a hot hatch, I thought the acceleration was similar to an i3s (at the speeds I was driving at).The remarkable thing is the chassis seems very smooth and refined for such a small car (better than the i3 imo) and the steering was nice and oily too (similiar to an i3).
Only niggle was a lack of centre armrest - not sure why this excluded this.

Would double the cargo capacity if they provide a decent central arm rest/storage bin going by all the reviews I have seen ajprice said:
From the Jonny Smith Carpervert video posted today on YouTube, a 2020 Honda E and a 1970s Honda Civic.

I understand that Dream Automotive have taken an interest in the Honda e and are looking at providing a variety of tweaks, mods etc. Including maybe a centre arm rest!Edited by Jaaws on Saturday 1st August 10:48

I'm wondering if later in the year there will be lots of tiny mileages demonstrators up for sale at around £25k which would make paying £30k now seem a bit impulsive.
And the other question I am pondering is whether to get the leather interior. The cloth seats are fine, but my wife would prefer the nappa leather option. I am thinking in 3-4 years when we sell the car, it might be good to have the leather interior as I suspect 90% of the cars will be sold with cloth trim.

Given it’s a completely new car, I would always tend towards letting the first year of production go through the line and any problem areas being addressed before committing myself.

Very sensible, and would be my attitude too, particularly for a car like this which we would be buying (rather than say leasing). The problem is that my wife and I actually really like the car, which makes it a bit harder to be aloof with our decision making.EddieSteadyGo said:

On the other hand, both premium small cars and EV's keep their value relatively well.So since this a small premium EV...

I can see them struggling to sell many, which is a crying shame as a far cooler and more interesting product than the Mini, 208, Zoe or Corsa EV's.
Just went back tp the dealership for another look. They happened to have a customer car due to be collected which had the leather seats option - weirdly, it only has leather front seats - the back seats are cloth, except for the headrest.
Has anyone here been brave enough to get one in yellow? Wife likes yellow but my sensible head says metallic blue is a safer choice.
