Yes it seems a decent 2011 £6k+, 2013 £8k+

So depreciation is circa £1k / yr which may be on a par with other modern cars but I'm used to older, effectively non depreciating cars - she'll have to go and try one.
More that the later generation cars are preferred - most people seem to like the dark interior over the early light one, and the heat pump loses you less range in winter.

Depreciation is in a weird place for EVs. A few years ago used EVs were a bargain and manufacturers were pushing incentives to get new ones sold. Now demand has picked up, far more people realise they make sense for them, lots of new EVs have waiting lists and the limited supply of used have pretty strong prices.

More new supply will probably push used prices down again in time, but given an average mileage user will save over a grand in fuel and car tax per year, I can't see them dropping too far. The sub £2k (still working / not crashed) Leaf is quite a way off I reckon.

2nd hand leaf owner here. Bought a '63 plate model 4 yrs ago with 20000 on the clock. Now got 90000 on the clock. No issues. Replaced tyres once and had a couple of "services" Not sure they did much but wash the car. No idea how much i've saved on fuel - but 70000 miles i a lot of petrol .......

24kw battery here.

I've just looked on AT - note the cars for about 6k are 1st gen cars. (Light dash, electronic handbrake) They were prone to a number of issues, especially in regards to the elec. handbrake, and also the heater system tends to either not work, or drain the battery.

All the recommendations are to go a bit higher in price (if you can) and get a gen 2 model - 2013 onwards - manaul handbrake (Left foot) and you should have no issues. mines a 24kw model still showing all bars, Battery health 96% (note - leaf spy and a dongle invaluable when looking at 2nd hand cars as you'll get an idea of battery health) and I can't fault it. Still get about 70 miles in the summer, and 60 winter (with roofbars and 2x bike carriers left on all the time as I can't be arsed to remove them)

My April 2017 bought 30kwh with 22k on it is now reading 92% SOH, the 24 we had before didn't degrade anything as badly. Similar picture with the 40kwh as well.

Seems to me if you can cope with the lower range the gen ii is the one to have. Bought mine for under £6K, and despite approaching 100k now its just been valued at £9K!!

We made a profit when we sold ours too, it went straight to London.

crazy isn't it.

If I was to sell it now - I'd make in instant gain of £3, plus the estimated savings in diesel over 60,000miles - i'd at least break even. That makes for free motoring!!! Can't beat it really.

I hope the trend continues because I'm looking at a 2014 (64) Tekna with 45,500 miles for my Good Lady. Just a test drive to make the decision.

The battery pack in the 24 degrades very slowly, the 30 is quite a bit worse.

I'm now getting seriously interested in this, have been looking around for a while and doing the sums At the 5-6k mark...these work for me with my commute/useage etc. I can charge up at home or work, too.

I had the use of a 2015 model for a weekend last year (friend who works at NMUK had one on the scheme) and it was brilliant! Was really impressed.

I'll put my thoughts in the relevant section of the forum.

My electric is cheap (we have a pre-paid 'key' meter at home) and it cost under 50p to do a (very nearly) full charge! Crazy!

I would want a Gen2 really...but prices are holding up. It still seems to be £8k+ (generally) for a decent one of those. And £8k is too much.......

Me too

I'd need a 30kWh model but then I'd be worried about the deg on them as it seems worse?

There was an issue with the 30kWh model software that made them show excessive degradation. After an update from Nissan it goes back up to the correct amount. Might be worth asking the seller if their car has had the update.

I have a 24kwh which i got with 200 miles 4 years ago for 14k - now has 45000 and I think I could still get 9k ish for it - and I have to say its the best car I have ever had - extremely comfortable, I leave it in 'B' and 'eco' all the time.

Strongly recommend them - the Tekna you need to be aware of rear axle issues - Nissan have replaced some under warranty and not others. - search on Sunderland built leaf uneven rear tyre wear for more details.

Crikey, how do you manage to live with B and ECO all the time? That would drive me bonkers. Mine is mostly in B, but if I can see I'm not going to be slowing in the near future I pop it back to D. ECO feels like driving through mud. I get an indicated 4.4 mpkwh on my read out - I'd be interested to hear if your style returns a better reading.

Intrested to know that too.

Also, is it just the Tekna with the rear axle issues?

Yeah, seems strange that there is a chassis issue that is related to a trim level.... I assume they all have the same suspension underneath? Is it something to do with the bigger wheels?

There are a few 30kWh models for sale near me. Some Acenta and some Tekna, They're about 12-15k, which I think I could stomach to be fair with trade in on the Prius and a loan... The 30kWh leaf is new enough that it won't really need much in the way of servcing and of course, fuel costs would plummet. Spending about £200 a month on that...I have to say the Prius has been very good. its probably about as a cheap a motoring as you can get at 10ppm for fuel.

LOL, I wouldn't even know where to look for the data to answer this !!!

The threads I have read suggest its the bigger wheels of the Tekna that seem to be causing the issue - I had mine replaced but all has been fine ever since.

The little button, top left of a group of four, to the right of the steering wheel, which scrolls through options for things to display on the main readout where you normally see battery percentage. Jab that a couple of times, it will display an average consumption figure. Mine stays rigidly at 4.4, whatever I do.

I am always in D eco, I find the pedal a bit too upright in non-eco.
