Hi All,

Currently 18 months into driving my company (lex autoloease) 330e MSport and due to a promotion i have the opportunity to get into a new car.

i also now have a 12 month old 30kg dog so the idea of a C or E class estate appeals but i still want to have low BIK

Can anyone offer some insight into them as models? are they any good?

Currently got a C350e estate on lease, had it just over a year.

Does pretty much everything perfectly.

At the moment I don't think there are many EQ models available, so you may have to wait awhile. (Or get an ECQ?)

Thanks for that. Cant use a full electric as i do over 25,000 miles a year and can have to (yesterday for instance) do 300-400 miles in a day.

I love the 330e but want something with a big boot for the dog and camping

diesel EV seems to make more sense for me over something like a V60 T8 which, like my 330e get pretty poor MPG when off the electric

There's a G30 330e touring coming early 2020, perhaps better to hold fire until they're on the market?

They look like they'll be significantly more tax efficient than a C or E class diesel hybrid, both of which are above 40g/km CO2 and step up a band in tax (and do they have a diesel tax on top, as the E class hybrid estate is £120 / month more than where the 330e is likely to sit).

The other reason to hold fire is that you may well get some money back each month for not upgrading the car. That's how it works if we get a promotion but are happy to sit in our current car until renewal.

yes on both fronts

i currently get about £100 back a month on this car and both the E and C class merc are due an upgrade so i don't want to jump into a 6/7 year old platform again.

G30 is intriguing as i do like a BMW and the new 3 series is really nice

to be fair i didnt think about the extra diesel percentage!

There is an E300DE on the Merc site, diesel/phev - might be worth a look?

I’ve got an E350e. It’s a really nice place to be, is pretty quick off the line but doesn't feel as quick once it’s up and running funnily enough. The E350e was only available as a saloon. Are the newer E300e and E300de available as estates?

I think the E300e comes with a bigger battery and electric motor than the E350e. The ICE is the same. Should feel usefully quicker and better the 16 mile electric only range which is the best I’ve managed.

Just in the process of ordering a new Class Hybrid Estate, the C300de should be going on build in December.

31miles on Electric.
2 litre Diesel
16% BIK dropping to 12% BIK in April 2020

Thats what i'm looking at but also had confirmation from a friend at BMW that a new 330e touring is due early 2020 so might hold out for that as the merc is based on a 2014 platform

Juts had another look into this and the diesel hybrids do not have the 4% BIK added to them as they are not classed as diesels.

they are also both in the same tax banding so it just comes down to the cost of the vehicle as the merc is slightly more

That’s interesting, I guessed it was getting a tax hit for the diesel as it looked so pricey.

Obviously not the case!

We had Mercedes removed from our list recently.

Correct the C Class Mercedes meets the RDE2 standard for diesels so does not attack the penalty.

long distance motorway MPG on the C350e is around the 40MPG, expecting to get at least 60mpg (which I could easily get in my previous C220 d) for the C300de if not more...… Current Contracts up in December so the C300de makes sense for me.....

after 40,000 miles (Since Nov 2018) in my 330e i'm averaging 42mpg so the merc is tempting. looking to pop down to a few dealers this weekend and have a play.

interested to hear if volvo bring out a T6 version of the V60/v90 soon too

I had a C350e new when it first came out in 2015. Had it for 2.5 years and no problems. PX’d against a new 2018 E350e which was leagues ahead in tech and comfort / finish. Looked to replace with a E300e but the options are restricted and delivery wasn’t going to be until at least March next year - I checked with other dealers and they all said the same. Hopefully you’ll find the diesel can be delivered much quicker.
After having 6 Merc’s from new I have now ordered a 530e as it will be delivered in Oct, is a better car and I could get precisely the options I wanted which Merc couldn’t do.

But no 530e touring so no better for me than my current 330e {aside from being a bigger, better car)
