That quote is so out of step with the market it's ridiculous. Out of interest, what are they asking for the same car but in 50 spec as with the battery upgrades that have been made to the Q8 it now has similar performance and better range than the older etron 55 and is usually considerably cheaper due to costing £10k less?

So my company are just about to open up access to a salary sacrifice scheme (I’ve just had a quick defo). I had my heart set on a Tesla after test driving the M3 but with a gross of £1088 for 15k miles/4years it’s a stretch too far.

Cupra Born seems to come in at £800 gross which seems more reasonable but the lead times are 40 weeks. Is there anything comparable to the Born that’s available sooner?

Why is that certain cars are not available? I've asked my leasing company and they just tell me that the manufacturers have pulled the offer.

At the moment i cannot order plenty of EVs including (but not exhaustive):

iPace
Polestar 2
Volvo C40/XC40
Kia E-Niro
Kia EV6
iD3

The C40/XC40/polestar was recently pulled as the model is changing and the price is too; guessing they haven't figured out the pricing yet??? Yet all of these cars are on the market and i can order one myself.

Due to their order books being full enough to not have to chase leasing?

I've got pricing on the new xc40, it was a relative bargain on my scheme at £600 gross for the base FWD single motor, new RWD equivalent is £880 gross. I'd discounted the current model as FWD and the relative poor efficency, so the revised model with RWD and bigger range peaked my interest but not at that price.

Why are you focusing on gross and not net? You'll have to speak to the lease company to work out what's available. Mine was trying to punt me an iX with 2 week delivery when I phoned about a MYLR.

Gross makes it easier to compare against the deals other people are getting. Also, as I don’t have access to the scheme yet I don’t know my Net for definite I’ve just got a rough idea based on my circumstances.

the lease company is trousering the cash via the insurance + extras

basically they give you the business lease rate, then the extras are double the cost you could find elsewhere - all in the knowing that it will net down to cheaper.

Octopus. Was a few weeks ago and wasn't cheap, think the gross was £13-1400ish.

previously octopus MYLR on 36m / 24k was 1,195 gross.

they called to adjust the price since the discount, quoted 1300 gross, then realised that must be wrong so have gone away to think again.

Yep, Audi wait time on EVs was 12-18 months when I was looking to order a car in Sep/Oct. I went for the BMW iX3 with a 6 month lead time.

Didn't fancy the the Tesla MY, just didn't feel as premium to me, but I can see why people go for it. I wish the iPace were cheaper - expensive options and poorer residuals drive up the cost. Wonderful car.

I can personal lease PCP Tesla for around £600 a month. In 4 years, 15k final payment.

Salary sacrifice, net monthly payment is higher, Then give it back. Plus the tax stuff.

Some perk!

A few points I learnt recently as part of a tender;

For most schemes, when the employee is on maternity/sickness and you can't take a deduction as it will bring their pay below minimum wage the scheme has to cover the shortfall. The employee payment and term do not change. So the scheme could have to cover six months of car payments.

When employment ends the car is handed back. Some schemes offer 10 hand backs a year no charge. This could be in the first year.

Some schemes include insurance and cover up to £500 of car damage on hand back.

Obviously their is a far bit of administration to this process, including reporting company cars to the HMRC and calculating the benefit in kind.

Company saves employers national insurance which the employer can chose to pass 50%, 100% etc. to the employee to make the lease cheaper.
