Picked up mine on Friday then drove it 228 miles home. Really like it.

VW had only half charged it so three rapid charges, one of 40 mins while I had a coffee and fiddled around with settings in the car, one 30 mins for lunch and one 30 mins at the MK hub. Arrived home with 38 miles range left. Was between 4 and 7 degrees, rainy - averaged 3.7m/kwh but there were several bits of slow traffic on the way. Mine doesn’t have the heat pump, bog standard with no options.

It probably won’t see many long trips but I’m much more confident about doing them now.

Just bought an e-Golf. We were early converts to EVs - had one of the first i3s in the Uk and loved it (even the quirks) we got rid about three years about due to an international move but since returning to the UK we’ve been weighing up between a new i3, an e-Golf or waiting for the ID3 which I expect will be excellent. In the end we decided now the kids are older we couldn’t put up with the i3 suicide doors any more and also wanted 5 seats and a more useable boot. On the downside this meant dealing with the appalling VW dealer network.

We test drove the e-Golf a few months ago and really liked it but had decided to wait for the ID3. Then they started to get more and delayed. At the same time threat to the government grant started to nag. Then we realised we could actually do it through my wife’s company claim the 100% FYA and 0% BIK and decided to just go for the e-Golf. Then the challenge become finding a good one as they are only available from stock now. I got a price off CarWow and we started negotiating from there. We quickly moved on a reflex silver car with active info display, leather with sports seats and reversing camera. Paid 28.5k for it.

We have a home charger already so we’re good to go. The car arrived on Wed and we’re really happy with it. All long family trips are done in our trusty D4 so this is about getting my wife to her meetings and local travel. She has a very light foot this was her return from Heathrow the other night.

I loved our i3 but this is unquestionably a better car. More practical, better riding, more comfortable and with 4/5s of the performance I enjoyed so much in that car.

Probably a case of buyers regret due when the ID3 arrives but only for the tech, the range is more than adequate for our planned use.

Well hope to collect my new E Golf next week hoping that I have made the right decision. It has a few extras including the heat pump and winter pack. I weighed up the pros and cons of leasing and thought it best to buy outright and look for a long term outcome. Next question is now about installing a home charger and switching electric tariffs for night charging. Work has installed several charging stations and my plan after a 40 mile commute 5 days a week is to charge at home at the weekend and mid week at work. Any advice on best home charging kits for my E Golf much appreciated. Will upload a picture when I get it!

Shame they can't squeeze a 65KWh battery in it to compete with the Niro, Leaf etc.

Well got the E Golf. Delighted with it and a joy to drive. Only bugbear seems to be Carnet/WeConnect which comes up 'error' when i press it in the car. I have registered online and done the scary identity check too.

Finding the e-Golf very predictable and reliable on battery unlike our old i3. Left home yesterday fully charged for a 110 mile round journey with indicated 120 mile range. Finished the journey with 22 miles range left.

Experimented by keeping AC use to a minimum and this also worked well. The i3 was terrible for internal misting/fogging which meant keeping AC off on the motorway was hassle. Not so with the golf. With four passengers and the dog, misting wasn’t a problem at all. Also very happy at a steady 70 where the i3 always ‘felt’ like it was being pushed at 70.

700 miles in and we’re really pleased.

Loving my E Golf and it's operation. Great to be able to heat it up while on charge and to be able to see economical motoring with free 22kw charger at work. I have had just had a Rolec Home Charge 7kw fitted very neatly and now I am looking at my energy tariff to see who provides the cheapest night electricity. I am slowly building up the journeys and I have planned a 90 mile journey next week with a rapid charge on the way home. Great car!

I can highly recommend Octopus Go. 4 hours of 5p/kWh energy from 0030 to 0430 overnight, really cheap motoring. I've been using them for about 9 month, no compaints.

Thanks for the kind offer and wow what a deal! I could see waiting till then to charge the car, put on the washing machine and reaap significant monthly savings. Alas I live in N Ireland where my choce of supplier is very limited and Octupus's tentacles have yet to reach there!
