I was getting used to the look of it, and really like the rear 3/4 angle.

But the other day I had one standing across the lights from me, head on, it looked like a car that was lifted and then had his skirt pulled down. Wasn't the most flattering angle. It was a silver one.

I do like them but I do think they are very color sensitive.

I think it's that extra bit of body-colored trim that does it. The sides and back have these in black, making them look a lot less like a lifted car with a skirt tacked on.

Yep, the rear 3/4 angle looked really good. Black hid all the plastic you mention, I actually didn't realise it was there.

I liked the look of them in all the reviews but in the flesh it was taller than I was expecting, much taller and much uglier.

I have to say I thought it looked stunning in that colour combo, lower than I expected and to me they seem to have the styling spot on.
Just goes to show varied expectations are. smile

As with most EVs currently available, it’s too small. These can’t even take a roof rack either!

Not to mention the Etron, EQC or the real behemoths that are the Tesla Model S and X.

Swmbo wants a Mustang mach-e and went and had a test drive last week and was blown away.so I thought I should go and have a look.

Got to my local ford dealer to be met with complete apathy from the sales team. Had to go and hassle them to even look at the car, and then they couldn't open it!

They claimed it can't be unlocked if the battery is flat, does anyone know if that is correct? As that sounds like an unsafe car to me.

Wouldn't have minded but they couldn't even be arsed to apologise, take any details, or try and get me booked in to look another day, so won't be buying from them.

You mean they have a Mach E on display and they managed to have it completely flat in the showroom? I call shenanigans.
Sounds like they (the dealers/salespeople) don't make money off them so they don't want to sell them.

Did you go to the same dealer as she did?

They'll be working off the same margins/commissions as the majority of the range. More likely to be not wanting the grief of dealing with the problems -

Constant recalls as per the Kuga and Ford's general admittance that the thing doesn't charge or hold charge as it should.
Their list of things you really should and shouldn't do would make it un-driveable for me.Don't use heater, don't use heated screens,
remove roof-rack when not in use and a whole load of others including not accelerating or braking harshly. These are on the Ford dealer system so a bit more than general advice, It reads more like "we haven't done a very good job of this so here are some short term fixes until we can do it properly".

Saw one in grey the other day and though it looked pretty good also, certainly better than the silver Ioniq 5 I also spotted that was a real disappointment in the flesh.

I had an interesting test drive experience of the Mach-E. First of all I had lined it up as my preferred option, in GT flavour, and was just carrying the test drive; it was all but a foregone conclusion.

The car itself looked great. It wasn't the GT model but that wasn't a problem at this stage. It was practical and seemed to fit the bill. The lack of support from the front seats irked me a little but I could get past that. I took it on a 25 mile drive across motorway, A and B roads and I loved the way it drove. Quick, silent and a pleasant place to sit. Well apart from one thing....

I don't know if i'm some anatomic freak with an extraordinarily long back and wide shoulders (powerfully built don'tcha know wink ) but i found even with the seat on its lowest setting that my shoulder was above the level of the plastic cut out on the B-pillar and actually pressing into it the point of discomfort. I'm 6'1" so hardly 'too tall' but any more reclined on the seat and I was too far from the wheel and any closer on the base and my legs felt squashed. I just couldn't find a comfortable position and I was devastated. I was sure the Mach-E GT was the car for me but alas it wasn't to be. EQC it is.

Yes, I agree. Seen a few around here and the color does make a big difference. Not seen a silver one on the road, but plenty of red, white and black ones. White really doesnt work in my eyes (personal, but I really dislike white cars) and seems to accentuate certain aspects. Also, that front body color part does also make a difference. Black poverty spec with the darker wheels and the plastic front part looks fine. White with the plastic front? Yeah, not so much.

And the design itself is actually pretty well resolved too - nothing stands out as jarring either, which is clever (though Audi have been good at that for a while). Its not exceptional, but a great example of 'looks better in the metal / plastic' than in pictures.

However, and here is the rub - here in the US its a common sized car. Plenty of SUV's are around its size, so its not out of proportion or sticks out in wider traffic. Though its bigger than you think. Does it work for European roads? I understand its wide, as in really wide. Not sure that it necessarily works from that point of view.

Luke.

It's not that big for the UK. Every other car here is a SUV.
