The ER RWD base is under £50k (just & only just).

99kWh battery and they're estimating 370 miles, but no WLTP yet.

It's good value, if (IF!) they can get anywhere near that range.

£40k after grant, presumably?

Be interesting to see how it compared to the eNiro etc. To my mind the Kia badge is worth more in the family car sector these days, at least in Europe.

Makes no mention of it at all on the pre-order / spec site - just states it as RRP.

I believe the RRP on all grades is before the £3,000 grant deduction so if that it the case, around £37,200 after deduction for the base model.

I had a good look around one in London at the UK launch event thing in Feb, was very impressed personally.

I put a deposit down in December. Prices were released then. I’ve gone for 2wd with the bigger batter and the technology pack. As long as he got over 300 miles on a charge with a couple of 10 minute top ups you have over 400 miles.

Still might cancel it for a Tesla as their charge network is far superior

Saw one at an event at Marble Arch. Looks good in the metal.

Interior of pre-prod car was pretty well screwed together too.

Apart from the stupid name I really like these, it's a smart and practical looking car. I also like the big centre screen and that they have also included buttons! I am not a huge fan of the overly minimalist look Tesla have gone with in a bid to save money on including tactile buttons.

They will probably regret the orientation of that screen, landscape is just way better for maps, netflix, apps etc.

The updated modelS will def have a landscape screen.

Any news on this car? Seems awfully quiet and with the Polestar 2 taking orders it looks like they're going to miss the boat.

Disagree. As above, Netflix is far from the most important part of a car and maps are better in portrait (you're driving forward, not sideways).
A nice layout is important, both the Model 3 and Model S do this very well, as does the Polestar 2 (also portrait) according to reviews.

IME the location and orientation of the M3 screen does seem to work better than in others I've tried with portrait. More information closer to eye level and feels less distracting when trying to operate certain functions?

Portrait does look better from a design standpoint I agree, but functionally I think landscape is the best approach.

I think I prefer portrait - it's better for displaying lists (for example charging points), and for displaying maps (more of the route ahead visible)

The issue is you just lose more of the portrait height to other things as per that Model S example so haven't really got any additional anyway?

Like I say, having to look down towards where the ash tray used to be in old cars to find where to press doesn't seem a great solution to me, but each to their own of course.

He's just got his music player up next under the map, you can make it full screen.

Still have quick access button at the bottom though for more regularly used functions such as seat heating/climate etc?

Like I say your mileage might vary but impossible to argue that the landscape screen in the M3 keeps everything closer to your eye line as the bottom of it is level with the centre of the steering wheel rather than bottom of it or below in portrait configurations such as the Model S/X or P2?

The Jaguar/Audi implementation offers the worst of both worlds IME having spent time driving both the iPace and a recent Audi A6. Yes, they don't look like an iPad Pro has been mounted on the dash but functionally they're pretty dire.

Yes

True about the "in sight" part. Could solve that by moving a part in front of the steering wheel though wink
