I suspect these will be collectible one day. But interesting to see that the battery pack needs replacing.
There was some issue with the batteries where if allowed to completely discharge they would be scrap and unrecoverable.
This is worth a watch.

It's a video from the "what's inside" channel, where he takes his Roadster in for work.

With that mileage the engine would barely be broken in on an Elise.
It would have been through 5 head gaskets though.

FSD subscriptions coming early 2021. Should be telling.
I think that makes a lot more sense. Tiered subscriptions and the ability to drop in / drop out as needed - say minimum 3 month period - and the ability to turn it on and off through the app. I think that makes a lot sense and while it might cause a finance issue in the short term, but the long term they will probably get more people subscribing.

Just musk’s Twitter, so a pinch of salt required.

I would guess any USA LHD car with HW3. Can’t see it coming to UK within a year of USA release.

Announcing something that's going to be delivered 4 years away just means they haven't managed to make it work.

all lithium-ion batteries be it in a car, phone, laptop etc. if run down to absalute zero die, most devices now keep a buffer

there is a company in the US that can analyse and repair roadster batteries

i suspect they will become very collectable, i think US prices have been rising steadily for a long time

The have a decent youtube channel too Dave, I remember watching some of the stuff they do to the Roadsters but I can't remember what the channel name is.

The roadsters I believe will become (may already be) modern classics and very collectible for the right ones. The chap from the What's Inside channel has a couple and has done some good episodes and them before.

I wonder how the one in space is getting on, I'd have thought by now all the paint will be gone and a good portion of the interior plastics but I can't recall how long they said it would survive for.

Gruber is the name of the company doing Tesla repairs. .

As for the one in space, 3 billion miles and still on the same battery...

Looks like it has! Someones got a good deal there, wasn't many miles on it either.

I actually found on here which I think is a PH members site (Johnny?)

https://tesla-info.com/for-sale.php?country=UK&amp...

I'm constantly on there looking for the right Model S at the right price.

Might be mine.. even though I'm supposed to hate the brand smile

I get told off if I link to the site even though I direct plenty of people to the pistonheads used car listings who would probably just use autotrader.

Given that Apple could crush Tesla overnight, I suspect Musk is nervous that he didn't manage to do a deal.

Apple doesn't need ten years - they've got just short of $200 billion cash on hand and could build out an equivalent to Tesla's entire infrastructure pretty much whenever they wanted. The reason Musk took ten years is because he had to raise every cent along the way.

That said, I'm not sure Apple either needs to or wants to compete in that area, but they could chose to do so overnight.

They also have some serious chops in the image processing and silicon device space, so it's possible they could decide that in-car infotainment and self-driving is a technology they do want to be in, and they'd be able to buy out pretty much anyone in the industry, add their own secret sauce and compete at will.
