I expected it to be efficient because parts of the drivetrain were from Tesla but apparently not. That's close to worst-in-class, only really rivalled for poor efficiency by the Audi Turd, sorry e-Tron.

It's not got some kind of fault has it? Stuck brake perhaps? Tyres under-inflated?
2500kg, average drag numbers. Not sure why surprising as efficiency clearly not their top priority which makes sense.

Test drove an EQC today and thought it was excellent. I'm thinking of swapping my GLC43 for one.

It definitely feels its weight but it is super refined. 0% offer at the moment as well, which makes a big difference when comparing to a similarly priced Ipace.

Thinking of going Premium with Driving Assistance. Don't think the Premium Plus is worth it.

What £75k car do you not take a bath on? It's the price of entry and always has been.

Agreed, that’s exactly the spec I ordered

Cars a looker in my opinion!

Are there any rough stats out there on fuel savings vs standard diesel for, as an example, 10000 miles? Would put more context on the monthlies and what is good value.

Not sure what your source is, it looks better than What Cars test (quoted 2.2) and that of the Tesla model s (2.4). So, no I don’t think there is anything wrong and it’s certainly more economical than her previous Macan and as the alternative is driving her DB11 AMR I think it’s got that beat on economy too.
In an original Leaf 24, well known for not being particularly efficient, with a bit of a lead foot on the commute with motorway and A roads, I would see about 3.3 miles/kWh.

I’m not sure I would compare the Leaf and the EQC for efficiency. They aren’t exactly the same size or have the same performance. I’m sure if you want a small efficient city car you can do much better than a merc suv, but that wasn’t our motivation. As this thread was about the eqc I’m saying it as we find it, if that helps decision making then that’s good.

It depends entirely on the type of journeys you do. I do 95% around town and short journeys, taking the kids to school etc, with the odd monthly trip to see my family which is approximately 95 miles way. I don't think the EQC will quite do there and back "easily" (I think it might be touch and go). That's probably the biggest question mark at moment. I currently average 22mpg in my GLC43 and spend approximately 240 a month on fuel.

The level of refinement in the car though is superb, it's really quiet and it shifts well - it feels as fast if not faster than my 43, even though the 0-60 is slightly slower. The biggest shame is trying to come up with a spec - what I actually want is the beige interior (only available on sport) with small wheels for better ride (only available on sport), with driving assistance (only available on AMG line), with the 360 camera (only available on AMG line with premium plus).

Thanks for the grown up answer (unlike some!).

So do you know roughly how many miles you do per month and how many times you’ve charged the EQC during that time? Should be easy to work out from there.

Hi A1Diego,

We’ve done 700 miles in 3 weeks, cost, as mentioned earlier In the thread, approx 5.6p per mile.

Currently we are on a standard plug so just keep it topped up every night, once the charge master box is installed I guess we will just charge every 2-3 days to avoid any range anxiety, but on a 7kwh charger it will take around 12 hours to fill from empty. (Can’t imagine we will let it get that low though).

Thanks. Over your mileage in 3 weeks I make that a £160 saving so about £215 a month. Wow!!

Very helpful post Daz.

My wife does uses our '63 for similar journeys, and i reckon we put about £250 a month into it...doesn't matter if you drive it like you stole it or like a nun, it does about 17mpg; noise is worth it alone though!

Its our 3rd GL/GLS, and after black interior on the first I have had ivory since then as its like a cave otherwise inside, so interesting to hear about lack if interior options.

I think its 2 weeks today I booked it for a 48hr test drive...looking forward to it.

Winter wheels and tyres fitted for the snow rain. At least they will be easier to clean than the 21 inch AMG wheels.

Nice. We’re they expensive? I’m torn as we don’t get much snow down on the south coast and I still have some macan turbo winters to get rid off...

Why not just plug it in every day?

Yeah they were quite pricey but as I live near saddleworth moor and we get any bad weather going I tend to get my monies worth out of them so to speak. Got them from here:-
