I've ended up ordering a Podpoint 7Kw tethered for £359 .
I got a quote for a Rolec charger but it was quite a lot more due to needing an Earth Rod.

I'm looking to move home within a year and might see if I can move to one of the V2G contracts when I do , so I don't have to pay for the moving of the charge point.
Think I'll end up with podpoint too for the same reason, or I may just get my electrian mate to stick in a 32A commando socket from my existing garage consumer unit and pay £175 for the appropriate lead.

OVO v2g came out to survey but said they couldn't use my existing garage supply (something to do with AC and DC current) and my main supply is 30m from the driveway so would take a fair bit of work to sort out

It's the most popular car site in the UK I think. Their madness is part of their publicity.

Rscut - you can swap just your electricity supply over to anyone you want & leave the gas as it is (although in your position I'd be stting myself about a massive bill down the line from some gas provider!).

Octopus go would be fine if you can take advantage of overnight cheap tariff, if you can't for whatever reason just chuck your estimated usage (including EV charging) into one of the comparison sites and pick the cheapest
I’ve put £500 a side for this as my understanding is they can only back charge for 1 year.

right folks, I've got till tonight to order my N-Connecta from work salary sacrifice scheme ... £298 straight for 10k pa, Arctic White incl maintenance, tyres, insurance.

I held of placing order as i was waiting for my demo but my quote expires tonight and the pprice will go up by £20/month.

So for those that have had the car last few weeks, what are your thoughts?

teh range is fine for me but it's just that 1 or 2 times a year when i do a 200 mile journey (one way) where they don't have much f a decent network of chargers. So stopping on motorway after close to 150 miles for a DC charge on each leg.

How bad does it get in winter?

I'll have to check out the boot at a dealership this weekend without looking too interested.

Do we need, in this subforum, a thread similar to the leasing/PCP thread in car buying subforum?
Yes please, I've decided my next leas is going to be an EV so it makes it easier to cut through the bumff.

P.S I posted the Willow deal on PH & HUKD so glad many were able to take advantage of it but many will have also missed it.

Not sure if you've been in the previous discussions around pension and salary sacrifice? Seems to hit pensions quite hard? (I don't really know myself as not in this position just from what I've read, or think I've read).

If you can get the Tekna model for the same money privately why wouldn't you do that? OK you don't get insurance bundled but that can't be much?

Doesn't effect our pension as our Pensionable pay is our contracted salary. We're exchanging some of our salary for a benefit.

My insurance is about £700 year anyway.
The deal through Willow was £6455. Taking it through work, the net cost is £7165. So overall the figures are the same.
I don't expect to go through any tyres in the 2 years anyway but on my previous lease I had to replace 2 tyres because of a screw going through them.
I don't need to stump up an admin fee
I don't have to see a DD go out of my account smile
If I lose my job/resign (there's various scenarios) my max exposure is £250
I can have the car delivered after my current one is due to go back in mid May where as Willow had to be delivered by end of March

The downsides are
I expect that my NCB wil lapse after the scheme, unless my next insurer accepts a letter from scheme provider.
Also...

MyDrive cars are classified by HMRC as ‘company cars’ (even if a family member is the primary driver) and therefore business mileage can only be claimed at fuel-only and not private car mileage rates.

It is also important to note any employee with a company car, including a MyDrive car, who uses a private car for business travel, can only claim fuel-only mileage rates.

To ensure employees are not financially penalised for using a MyDrive car for business, in addition to claiming fuel-only mileage rates, any excess mileage charge due when the car is returned, relating to business mileage* will be waived.
...
You should ask how much tread is remaining on the tyre before it is replaced as we will only replace a tyre that has 2mm or less tread remaining; the legal limit is 1.6mm.

Hire a car 1 or 2 times a year - surely you can do that with the fuel money that you will save?

From the 14th of Feb for me. I guess if he's dealing with multiple dealers it could be different for each one

yes I've considered that but
- there may be the occasional trip needed in an emergency to visit family
- we don't have much a of a selection of hire companies locally. Would have to travel 30 mins to city where they have more hire companies operating with decent rates.

Anyway, I've placed my order now smile

Hi all,

Am thinking of a Leaf to replace our Octavia VRS which goes back in August. My wife uses the VRs day to day and i shed for work. A Leaf would suit us really well, as her weekly mileage is probably 150 miles max, and fuel economy in the Octavia is about 25 average at present, so we would see a sizeable saving, not to mention the lease will also be cheaper.

I've had a quote from Chorley Nissan for a Leaf Acenta in Flame Red on a 6+23, 8,000 PA at £202.25 including VAT.

Just thought i'd check whether anyone had seen anything better around? I've had a search on Leasing.com and Leaseloco and doesn't seem to be anything cheaper.

Thanks

Email Chris Milner at Peterborough Nissan chris.milner@smithsmotorgroup.co.uk

If you contact him, please say Ryan Cutten referred you! For reference, I have orders the Tekna, in white and 2 services for £301pm on a 1 + 23. That’s for 10k per annum.

What charger and energy provider are people going for, with their 40Kwh Leaf? I have contacted OVO and sent some pics off to them, however I have a feeling that I am going to have to wait a long time if I wait for them.

I started having a ‘proper’ look at at home chargers last night and was a little overwhelmed about the options! I basically want a smart charger and a cheap energy provider.

My thoughts are; Pod Point 7Kwh (not sure whether to go tethered or not?) and try to get on the Octopus Agile tariff. How easy/quick is it to get onto this tariff?

I had the guy from Ovo around and surprisingly he was willing to run 25m+ of armoured cable hidden around the base of the house to a point on the driveway. However the main fuse needs upgrading by the network first so it's going to be a few weeks before it's sorted at least.

The leaf is coming Monday morning so I'll just use the granny cable on my outside socket for now & charge every other night.

Speaking to a few people in work with EVs they haven't bothered with fast chargers at all & just charge more often.

Is it not more expensive to use the slow charger due to the fact you can’t take advantage of the lower off peak tariffs? Do you know what the charging rate is for a standard charger (KWh per hour)?

I have ordered the Pod Point Tethered unit now, I did get quotes from others but they were more expensive because of an Earth Rod being needed (Pod Point said they don't need one).

I will need to charge mine most nights as I have a 66 mile commute to work.

I'm still waiting for an installation date, but my LEAF is due to arrive mid march

I need to call Octopus to find out which is better for me, Agile or GO.

I can't seem to find any other options for cheaper tarrifs, except Scottish Power but I have had bad experience with their customer service in the past. (The overcharged me and it took me a year to get my money back).
