What charger and energy provider are people going for, with their 40Kwh Leaf? I have contacted OVO and sent some pics off to them, however I have a feeling that I am going to have to wait a long time if I wait for them.

I started having a ‘proper’ look at at home chargers last night and was a little overwhelmed about the options! I basically want a smart charger and a cheap energy provider.

My thoughts are; Pod Point 7Kwh (not sure whether to go tethered or not?) and try to get on the Octopus Agile tariff. How easy/quick is it to get onto this tariff?
I can recommend a Zappi. And I'd suggest tethered - it saves a small amount of hassle and you're slightly less likely to get dirty hands each time you use it.

I think to get onto the Octopus Agile or Go tariffs you need to become a 'regular' Octopus customer first. Then once you're on-board, swapping tariffs is a very quick and easy process.

It's all pretty easy, but might take a month all-in.

Please, please do not go with a Pod Point charger. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. Save yourself the hassle and get literally any other make of charger!

I don't know anything about any others, but Zappi + Hub gives you full remote control via your phone, and it does everything I need it to.

(no connection, just a happy customer)

I've also just switched to Octopus - as mentioned above, you have to switch to a standard Octopus supply before you can switch to Go.
It seems that Go is the cheapest EV rate out there, coupled with a 7Kw charger, 4 hours should get my car to 100% in the 4 hours (most days as I won't come home with the battery empty).

According to the Zap Map Calculator that's less than £2 a day to charge.

On my standard tariff it's around £5.80.

Aren’t these about £700 after the incentive? Don’t really want to spend that much. I’m hoping I can sort the OVO deal.

Can't you get Apps that work with your car to schedule charging etc?

You can. For whatever reason my Leaf won't talk to the internet (might need an update or something?) so that doesn't work for me. It should work fine on a new Leaf though.

I would get a switch to Octopus going now, and if you've not got the correct smart meter for GO/Agile get the process started. Octopus have Ohme cables (£200) and EO Mini charger (£369) deals at the moment. Get a £50 account credit via a referral, mine is: http://share.octopus.energy/ivory-snail-551

You can get them added retrospectively, no hassle at all.

Just for balance, I've had a Pod Point charger for 3 years. The installation went without a hitch and when, after 18 months I had a problem with the unit they were straight out to sort it.

Anyone got theirs yet?
I've been told today the earliest I can get mine is the 20th which is a bit of a piss take for a car that was registered on the 31st Jan. Shouldve been this week with ease for a stock car.
