Anyone advise on an off peak tariff that doesn't require a smart meter install?
Without a smart meter, how would they know which electricity you're using on-peak and which off-?
A standard economy 7 meter?

Well yes but I would imagine if the OP had one of them, he'd already know. And if he doesn't, he's going to have the same problem fitting one of them as a smart meter.

Yep, I don't have Economy 7.
I might just have to find the cheapest standard tarriff and switch

If your meter isn’t safe, surely that’s the bit of the problem to tackle?

And just get it upgraded while they’re at it.

It wont be his meter - it'll be the elec company's meter = their meter

Which presumably means he wont have to pay to get it "made safe"?

Apparently its the board at the bottom that is the problem.
The pod point guy also said he couldn't go off the meter as they normally do.
They didn't seem to think it was unsafe unless you are playing around with the connections to the meter.

As ours was a factory order and they've now closed the factory, it's unlikely to be June delivery now!

I'm actually a bit disappointed

Last few days, my cars decided to run on a mixture of leccy and air.
Averaged 4.4m/kwh over the last 2 days.

Maybe it just needed to 'run in' for 1,000 miles.

Maybe due to the warmer weather and lack of wind?

Is there a way to keep track of those statsitically in the car?
Is there less traffic about too due to other circumstances

Just call the network operator and get it fixed then, it won't cost you anything.

EDF have a very cheap single-rate tariff for EV drivers for customers who can't get a Smart meter installed so that may be worth a look in the meantime, it's only available on their EV web pages though, not in amongst their main tariffs. They also use it as the holding tariff for customers with old-school meters whilst awaiting Smart installation, so you'd go on it automatically anyway.

Thanks, will look into it

I’ve been using the engie rapid chargers that are scattered about. They are free and 50kwh, so get a solid 70 miles in about 30 minutes.

Only scattered about up north it seems, I don't even have enough range to get that far, even if I wasn't locked down.

Only driven my car 316 miles and my Volvo hasn't been picked up due to the lockdown.

I’ve requested a settlement figure to send my Volvo back; if they don’t get back to me, I’m going to cancel the direct debit!

If it's Santander Consumer Finance, give them a call, they were pretty good with me.
I had a collection booked for today, they have asked me to keep hold of the car and insure it.
Direct Line even extended the insurance (temporary second car) for free for a month.

Now I have 2 cars sitting around doing nothing

Hey, I was hoping I could get some opinions on these deals:

Nissan Leaf N-Connecta 14k miles 24 months £250/month

Hyundai Ioniq electric Premium 14k miles 24 months £270/month (this went up significantly since I last checked)

What worries me about Nissan is that I've heard it has terrible charging issues and limits rapid charging to once per trip? I couldn't verify these facts. Suppose I would like to make a 500 mile trip, would that be doable at all?

The Leaf 40 does have some issues with charging. Basically after the first charge the battery will be quite hot and the charging speed will be lower the second time.

For a 500 mile trip it will be an issue. The first charge will be 45 minutes but the second and third ones will be 1.5 hours.

For that kind of distance the Ioniq is better but still not the best (the old one was great, the current one is slower) so maybe look at getting a Kona or eNiro instead. Also the Zoe if it's not too small for you.
