Tesla just released a 390 mile model S,..

Doubts about range are a 2012 thought.
The "long range" version still is quite a bit short as per all electric car range claims.

Most efficient model 3 claims 345mi - reality driving to literally 0% charge - 265 - even in good conditions!
See the Carwow video.

It's the EU who made that 345mile claim. In the USA Tesla give much more accurate numbers and that 390 is in the accurate area. God knows what the EU will rate it as, probably 500miles...

And I point you back to to, again, Electric cars failing to meet their WLTP range.

Of course - ICE cars struggle to meet claimed range / efficiency- but arguably it matters less because of the recharging issues.

Because WLTP is an unrealistic test though better than nedc.

You can hit the EPA range pretty easy.

Its a bit like saying a car doesn't get the stated mpg.

Yes we know. Nothing much Tesla can do about it. As I said in the USA the numbers are way more accurate. That 390miles is the USA measure so it should be accurate.

Carry blankets and a warm coat. Have you ever heard of camping?

Keep some drinking water in the car too.

My mistake. It was 0.1 GALLONS per hour. Not liters. My bad.

Maybe 0.2 if the heater is on :-)

Rob - you live in fantasy land with your hard on for EV.

Yeah half an litre an hour sounds believable for a small petrol engine which will give you the same order of magnitude of heater runtime as a mid-range heat pump equipped EV.

Rob can be a rather partisan I agree but with so many uneducated posters on here making stupid claims/statements when they've likely never even sat in an EV let alone run one for any length of time I think that's fair enough as balances things out a bit.

He at least speaks from a position of experience and I can understand being a little OTT at times in defence of something you have an actual personal investment in far more than constantly hating on something you don't, as seems to be the case on here for a number of posters?

I’m not even an EV evangelist like some on here .........you know who you are. Even I can understand this is a non issue. Over the last couple of weeks and after discussion with the good lady and visits to various dealerships I have decided it is a really interesting time in the EV marketplace. I have looked at the e Niro and the new Peugeot’s 208e and 2008e and think that the Peugeot is a stunning product. Mrs MB will be getting the 2008e in the next 12 months. I will in maybe 2 yrs pick up a used EV (possibly 208e) to replace my diesel van for work.

It pains me to say it (see my ice toys) but the next 2 yrs will be very interesting as the mainstream makers start competing with affordable decent range (200 miles plus) cars that are screwed together properly. The interior of the Peugeot is very smart imho and the running costs will be significantly less.

Interesting times now car makers tech and development is bearing fruit.

Model X extreme testing in -36°C/-33°F: https://youtu.be/capOgUHPz9Q

If a Model X can operate in comfort for 24+ hours in -36°C temperatures I'm sure we'll survive in a traffic jam in the UK.

Somewhat unfair! He called you out for posting fake facts, and as it turns out, he was bang on.

In good conditions? I recall the temperature being circa 5 degrees, them travelling at motorway speeds and stopping every 40 miles (to swap cars). Not convinced it was a great test, unless you have a ridiculously weak bladder?

There appear to be a lot of EV deniers/Luddites on here.

I wonder if they are equally reactionary about other subjects too?
