Saw one for the first time on the road in Portsmouth recently.

I'd thought the council would have been better with a fleet of these rather than the e-scooters they have.

Ideal for going along the southern seafront road from one end to the other, or into the town, as it's all 30mph roads.

Hourly rental is a thing in some countries, would love to see it happen here

Driving one of these wheelchairs on a dual carriageway sounds rather dangerous. 28mph is barely adequate for a 30mph zone with real world ~35mph speeds.
Agreed. My test drive was solely in 30mph zones and I still had folks 3cm off the back bumper. In a car that really feels like it's a tupperware container on wheels, it's not a good feeling. If it could be 'derestricted' to 33mph I'd have been a lot more comfortable!

EVM had a Cargo version, going up the hills it slowed to 20.

Obvs, I avoid 60mph roads, but have covered 500 miles now, pootling about. Not had one instance of "road rage" or even "beeping". Most people smile, point and ask questions....we have a "Restricted to 28mph" sticker on the back, which I think sets the right expectation....

Just read autocar's review. Difficult to believe it does anything better than a used Leaf for the same money. Even an 8 bar one will still go further, in much better comfort and possibly as efficiently if limited to 30mph.

If you like the AMI and it's certainly a step up from a push bike if you are 14 and your territory allows you to drive one.

We kind of need to mix AMI's with i7s and get two sensibly sized and weight EVs.

Seen one on a driveway near Moor Park/Rickmansworth - belong to anyone on here? I've resisted pulling on to the parallel road the house is on and taking a closer look.

Any reasonable insurance about?

Me, wife and sons (23,18) coming in at double what our Fiat 500 is presently.

Admiral insure mine for less than anything else I have, it’s not dirt cheap like people seem to think it should be mind.

Insurance with Churchill - £160 per annum - went through a comparison site and was a lot less than Citroen Insurance quote

I'm assuming there's a LHD premium, especially for younger drivers?

Doubt it, it’s so small it makes absolutely no difference being LHD

The computer doesn’t know how wide it is, if it’s programmed to load LHD premiums smile

RIP to this AMI in Monaco. It might only do 28mph but you can still drive it like a dick.

He’s not really got many other things to blame but himself.

regardless of how it was driven, no car should tip over like that - it should just understeer off instead. That's st design with too high a centre of gravity.

Maybe not the car, maybe someone with a really big head?

There are other videos - he’d clearly been around there a few times.

Surprised at the dynamics, TBH. Narrowness isn’t always a virtue, of course.

This is why we need to reduce speed limits!
