Fortunately my kids are both old enough to drive themselves now so very rarely have back seat passengers. The CT with the added headroom seems the better choice even so as a better looking, more practical car which costs the same as the saloon due to including the performance battery as standard.

How did we wander O/T to discussing a car 2.5 to 5 times the cost of an ID.3? smile

We let nature take its course. smile

I'm sure it'll get back on track once someone has something interesting to post about the ID.3.

Saying that, I notice VW have released a sportier GTX version of the ID.4? Any talk of a similar ID.3 as a GTI type option?

ID3 R was slated for arrival in a couple of years but they're not rushing it as they're still selling the GTi and R Mk8 in big enough numbers.

Really don’t understand VW’s pricing strategy on these, you can get an ID4 with the big 77kwh battery for less than an ID3 with the same battery…?

Ultimate spec v base spec though? Not really any different to a fully loaded 320i and a base spec X3 20i for example.

Spec for spec you're still looking at a £10k difference as far as I can tell between the ID3 and ID4 which when you consider all you are getting is a bit bigger and more practical car makes the ID4 seem pricey to me, especially in £50k Max spec.

All the ID4’s are First editions so hardly poverty spec.

Didn't say poverty spec, but they are the cheapest and least well equipped version available and a similar price to the most well equipped ID3?

You said base spec, the first editions aren’t base spec, not top spec either but stil… all I’m saying is the only available ID4 is less than an ID3 with the same battery, which for a considerably bigger car makes no sense.

Decent price cut on a lot of them today. Family is now under the magic £35k grant price, even with the 150kW motor.

Rumoured they'd be going to Skoda Enyaq style packages (and they seem to have in Germany) but no sign on the UK configurator yet.

The OH is needing to change her Lease car in the Autumn and what I assume is the base spec is coming out at not much over £200pm.

Virtually the same price she pays for a C3 at the moment, pretty much a no brainer at that price I would have thought.

Yep, even the base spec is 45kWh usable (217 miles WLTP), 100kW charging. You get heated seats and steering wheel, adaptive cruise, wireless Carplay/AA, front and rear parking sensors, etc on all ID.3s.

What's available for the Cupra Born? Best looking of the three of them, imho...

..and according to carlow, likely to be more expensive like-for-like spec than the ID.3;

"Cupra hasn’t given any word yet on pricing, but the Born will probably cost slightly more than the Volkswagen ID3 across the range. Entry-level cars should cost from around £32,000."

They're not 100kw by default, it's an option

Maybe elsewhere in Europe. All UK cars do 100kw, 125kw for the biggest battery version.

Stand corrected, last month it was an option.

Can’t understand why it’s so hard to keep up with ID.3 spec changes hehe
