I say that because of the same reasons other posters have mentioned. A good ev is made as an EV from the ground up.
i3, Tesla's, Taycan, I Pace, Polestar 2. All designed as EVs, not slotted in as an afterthought.
The Polestar 2 is built on the Geely cma platform that is also used for ICE/Hybrid vehicles.

Not an afterthough I grant you but not a ground up EV design either. Probably why it's so heavy despite it's size.

Polestar 2 is an ice xc40 platform..?
I agree and I hesitated to put it in there. As Swoll pointed out, possibly the reason it's that heavy with all the consequences to efficiency and handling.

That said, it's more than you can say from some of the straight swaps that have been done.

Dull as dishwater.

Transmission tunnel in the rear? Not exactly great for families. Then, the price...

£60k I believe and at least it won't be outside local schools with the engine running...

I think the tractor bit is the association with a farm vehicle running and chugging away on diesel... but used in Chelsea not a field...

This doesn't have an engine.

BMW
SUV
Low BIK

It's expensive in cash, but provided the lease costs work out well and it's easily available on salary sacrifice schemes it will sell like hot cakes to a familiar audience.

Yep, no ICE. I was referring to an overly large, heavy, expensive vehicle that will probably never go off-road. I wish more makers would launch EVs for the average car-owner, if you like, maybe BMW 3-series sized.

The Model 3 obviously already exists, but saloons are a difficult market in the UK and a difficult packaging solution for EVs.

As it stands, EV's in general (with a couple of exceptions) are really heavy.

People buy SUV's in droves, so it's logical that manufacturers make what people buy.

As mentioned, there's the TMS, TM3, ID3, Polestar 2, Zoe, Leaf,... plenty of non-SUV EV's.

Yes I just don't get the non SUV, SUV thing

Uglier than an ugly thing, poor packaging and not much space + the expense or is it driven by Evian drinking dyed blondes with plenty of plastic in them ?

That's why it's immediately recognizeable as a BMW.

Cheapest ICE X3 is £500+ a month on a 3 year 10k pa deal. I'd guess this is going to be close to £1000 a month based on XC40 recharge pricing?

Depends on too many factors beyond the cash price. But EV, salary sacrifice with 1% BiK and I imagine it'll be circa £600a month. Depends how many BMW want to lease, Volvo clearly weren't keen to shift XC40e.

Still looks a lot of money for a mid sized 2WD SUV with very average range and performance? You'd have to be a serious BMW fanboy to choose one over the Mercedes EQC or Audi E-Tron assuming a similar lease cost (assuming that's the case and BMW don't go pricier as they often do) .

Absolutely glowing review from Autogefühl. Thomas really praises the driving dynamics.

I think it looks quite good, although I'm not a fan of BMW interiors. Odd that there's no frunk. I can't imagine what they've crammed into the space where the engine was.

Indeed, as it's only got a single motor and is RWD christ only knows why they've got no spare room under that bonnet.

Any idea anyone?
