That’s strong money for a Suzuki.
What it is is a rebadged Toyota RAV4 Prime (plug in hybrid and pretty much the fastest car Toyota now makes after the the new supra!). I don’t know if Toyota are planning on bringing the prime here or not but if they do who is gonna go for the Suzuki and if they don’t, who is gonna go for the 46k Suzuki?
It’s also the laziest rework I’ve seen, it’s quite literally some new headlamps and load of Suzuki badges. Job jobbed.

I really thought they had mistyped the price when I got sent the email! If the RAV4 is going to start beyond £45k then I'm out. Shame, as all the road tests I've seen in the US & Canada seem to like it a lot. The hybrid RAV4 starts from £29k here, so I can't see how the PHEV can be worth another £15k on top?

Think it probably will be that price. They also have the Suzuki Swace, which is an even lazier effort than the Across. It is quite literally just a Hybrid Corolla with a different badge. They said prices will be close to that of the Toyota version. I have to say, if you aren’t getting a discount for the arguably lesser brand, why would you get the Suzuki over the Toyota? Revisiting this thread a year or so on... The Toyo-zuki SUV is largely available discounted at around £41k new. Nearly-news are cheaper in the Suzuki version and sell at around £36K. With a large hit of depreciation removed at that point, they're quite an attractive proposition because of:
a) 45-50 miles on battery only (highly appealing to those who do lots of small trips and have a charger at home) and
b) 0-60 in about 6 fecking seconds. OK, you won't want to throw it around corners, but that's a lot of grin-inducing acceleration and torque.
Get over the badge snobbery and see if for a utilitarian vehicle and there's lots to like.

£40-45k for an overly complex hybrid Suzuki?
Unless you're regularly doing 250+ mile trips without stopping you'd surely be a lot better off buying a dual motor Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Kia EV6 for that price if you can charge at home? The TCO will also be considerably lower I'd expect?
Will also offer far more grins at < 5 seconds 0-60 and very capable at corners.

Here in the US, a RAV4 hybrid starts at $29k and the Prime starts at $40k - so still taking the Michael there too. There is no way that there is $10k worth of difference between the two. Though I think they are differentiating with the spec. The Hybrid is pretty low in the spec (wheels, trim etc) while the Prime is significantly higher with a much higher level of equipment added (much bigger screen / infotainment etc).
But 45k GBP for that? Yeah, thats pure profit taking and it doesnt make sense. People are baulking at the $40k USD price, but are paying it because its a Toyota and they sell hundreds and thousands of the damn things here! Initial deliveries of the Prime were sold out in days, so Toyota USA had to bump everything up. They even went for a massive premium for a while. Its the one that everyone wants and is a perfectly acceptable middle of the road car that will last - mass market stuff!
