Thanks - this and the other comments about miles/kWh all make sense. I need to find one to go and have a look at.
Get in touch with Wisely they have a stock list that includes cars in prep, and sometimes you can choose what they do. My association with them is as a satisfied customer. They have a better specialised I3 knowledge than most BMW dealers.

Good to know, thanks, and not too far from me.

Thanks for that, much appreciated.
I would be interested in your criteria, what you have discovered in your hunt, and what age/price points are the sweetspot! Having a nose through myself for something smile
Eventually settled on and bought a 94ah REX version on a 17 plate which was registered in March 2017. It took a while to find one in the spec I wanted and a few compromises but I'm happy with the purchase and believe my Mum will be when she sees it (Yup, she doesn't know!)

I wanted the REX version, Range Anxiety and all that and since it's for my Mum I don't want her having to deal with that should she ever go far. Also getting a 17 plate one that was registered in March 2017 meantit's free road tax. Any REX versions registered on or after 1st April 2017 have road tax of £170 I believe which seems mad.

It's got the leather "Suite" interior, park assist but sadly no HK stereo. It also had the small 6.5 inch screen but that was broken (Common issue of massive dots on the screen) so that was fine and I swapped it for a 10.25 inch version, got one from eBay for a decent price during one of their 20% sales. Carplay is coming from AliExpress for a Road Top unit so I'll fit it next weekend. Wheels are scuffed so I'll get them refurbed. All reflected in the circa £9.5k price I paid. 45,000 miles, 1 owner, and after a deep interior clean (It was manky) and paying a nice man to detail the black exterior it has come up very nice. By no means perfect, but it's 7 years old and probably the worst colour for marks to show.

I bought Bimmercode and coded in the useful functions that I found online. Disabling the "Terms and conditions acceptance" thing that pops up when you start the car, and when you put it in reverse before the camera comes on. Enabled folding mirrors on lock (yes I know you can do it with the fob), showing tyre temp as well as pressure. Although I'll get the carplay unit I also updated the maps to the 2023 versions with a dody ebay code and a dodgy download from the web. and updated some or other firmware that the BMW website gave me.

So far I am happy and I hope my Mum will be too. I take it out more than my Ionic 5 at the moment. One of the many things I like about it are ... buttons! Yes, I can turn the seat warmers on, or change radio stations or use the built in nav without having to use a touch screen like the Hyundai. My first BMW and the idrive thing and physical buttons are so much nicer. We'll see what carplay is like without touch screen ....

So far, so good!
