The ID4 is the size of an Audi Q3.
This is nonsense. There is a world of difference between a dedicated EV platform and a fossil car in terms of interior space.

Unless you are Buff's the ID4 is fine for 5
No it's not. The ID4 is near identical in size to an Audi Q3.

My only point being that the Etron will transport 5 people (not 2 adults and 3 children) in comfort and to s level of luxury that the ID4 cannot.

Furthermore it has capacity for those peoples luggage for a holiday (ie 5 decent size suitcases), and again, an ID4 cannot.

As said, I'm not saying the ID4 isn't a great car, and clearly more range on the Etron would be a bo us, but they simply are not comparable cars. The forthcoming ID6 is a nearer match, but seemingley that's 2 years away yet.

My lease of the Etron runs out in November and believe me I've been looking at sl options in regards of a replacement. It came down to another Etron, Mercedes EQC, Porsche Taycan and the new Audi GT. I dont particularly like the interiors of Mercedes cars (personal opinion) and I'd have to double/treble the monthly lease cost of the Etron to move to a Taycsn or Audi GT, which simply doesn't stack up to me. In the end ive decided to extend the lease on the current Etron and put the deposit down on a fun car (porsche, but not electric) which will replace the wifes current car. I think the Etron is great, so why change ?

I said interior space, not external size - just look at the wheelbases

If you need an etron for five people then that's your choice, at least it's not a diseasel, I certainly don't

And that's fine. If we were all the same then what a strange place the world would be.

My original comment was made in reply to a comment saying the etron, etc are no irrelevant as a result of then ID4, etc. I simply continue to maintain this is wrong.

There are many cheaper cars that will fit 5 people, but using that argument then does that mean the the audi q5, q7, q8, rs4, rs5, ray are all irrelevant because audi do the A3 which 5 people will fit it (albeit maybe not as comfortabley). Does it mean first class transport is irrelevant because standard the seats fit in standard class ? Clearly it does not, people want more space, more luxury, etc, and a lot of the time its driven by how deep your pockets are not what theoretically does the job.

The goalposts are moving so fast I can't keep up

The ID4 is not tiny

and why introduce an A3 ?

An EV platform will (normally) have lot more interior space e.g ID4 vs Q3

Indeed. And the EQC/E-Tron aren't all that big to start with in the world of SUV's, very much mid-sized.
Goalposts are indeed moving.

The GLE, X5 and Range Rover Sport are "mid-sized" SUV's. rolleyes

Hi

I'll be leasing it through my business, hence why i was going full EV for the zero tax, but the RR Sport is only £195 per month personal tax, so not too bad for a car like that.
I presume that's with a big deposit? I had Nissan Leaf in 2015 for £200/month with no deposit and thought that was a bargain, are RR sales so bad they are essentially having to give them away?

He said personal tax which is a function of BIK due to low CO2

If lease prices are low that can also be down to good rediduals.

You'll struggle to get a RRS P300 PHEV for under £600 a month on business lease even with a long term and minimal mileage (4 years, 5k miles per year) from what I've seen.

Agreed, i was just replying to the context of the statement.

note: P300e will be an Evoque not RRS.

And don't forget, the RRS, in the world of SUV's , is still very mid-sized.

Got the RR Sport P400e Dynamic HSE for £630 per month, £5400 down, 5k miles over 2 years.

BIK works out at about £220 per month now as its the Dynamic model wink

When it's due to go back, EVs should be quite a bit better in terms of range.................hopefully

Just as a small data point about Audi electric supply - I live in Germany and have been waiting three months for a
replacement (internal) charger for a Q7 e-tron. The date just got pushed back again and I don't have any other information, but it seems to align with what the OP has been told about supply.

I drove the iPace, EQC and e-tron back to back. The iPace was, dynamically, just soooo much better than the other two - which was the deal breaker for me. I think £ per hp it's potentially least expensive too, depending on how you spec it.

If you just don't like the iPace or need something slightly larger.. the EQC was better than the e-tron. If you want best value for money overall and aren't badge conscious, it's near impossible to argue against the Mustang mach-e.

Personally I think VW have slightly cocked up their opening foray in to the world of EV, all their offerings are bettered by the competition imo. The one exception in the group is Porsche but they're pretty autonomous and developed their own (excellent) ev platform.

Personally when I hand back the iPace I am planning to go to the i4 M50 as it's a proper sports coupe EV. If I was planning on staying with an SUV... I probably would have another iPace as I've loved it so far, although if LR have the Velar of RR sport fully electrified at that point, I'd look that direction too.

Some real-world experience....

We have an E-Tron S, delivered in June 2021 and its now covered 5500 miles. It's on a 15k annual business lease for 3+36 months. The lease is including the maintenance/tyres, and it costs £1,200 a month, which is covered by my company car allowance.

When we looked, we couldn't get on with the looks of the EQC and the iPace, so the competition was a Full Fat Hybrid Rangie, or a Hybrid RRS. The BIK payment on the Audi of £23 a month won all day long.

We live 3 miles from the kids school, 50 miles from my office, and 110 miles from an area we spend a lot of weekend time. There is plenty enough range in the car, and we have only charged away from home on occasion and had no issue with a little bit of planning.

We all love the car, it feels special and eats up miles when we do go on a longer trip.

Any other questions - just ask.
