Tbf, all these options pushed me away from Jaguar, Porsche and Audi towards Tesla a couple of years ago.
Adding another 20k of "essential" stuff to an 80k car , often stuff you get as standard on a 50k as well, felt depressing.

I really like the car but that has put me off some.
I like the lack of options on T as well, the Germans have become masters of taking the piss with options

those colours .... 50 shades of monochrome ....

Think I'm the wrong side of 50 (just) as from the German configurator and videos/pictures on line I actually quite like the gold and silver/grey

It's because they do the best job of hiding the 2 tone colour scheme versus the darker shades.

Just watched the TG review and spotted this.

Efficiency looks to be 2.2 miles/kWh after 167 miles of driving so with a 72.5 kWh battery that would put the real world range at around 160 miles, which is born out by the 67% SOC and 110 mile of range remaining also shown. It also shows 75% SOC and 129 miles of range earlier in the review.

Unless they've been driving it incredibly hard that's very poor?

The South Korean guy (Asian Petrolhead) reckoned he was getting 4 when he did a 'till empty' run, however we do not know how fast or slow he was driving.

I suspect we might need to wait till Carwow do their 'till empty comparison' run as they do a mixture of city and 70 mph driving.

I'd wait for Tesla Bjorn to test it on 1000km run. A better comparison of efficiency and charging capability.

While I understand what he tries to do with his tests (incuding trying to make them impartial) his comparisons are inaccurate as he does the same run for all cars using those results regardless of whether they are city cars or distance cruisers and also regardless of the weather. The Carwow tests has comparable cars being driven together over the same journey so they compare apples for apples and all in the same weather.

Edit - I should point out by Carwow tests I mean the ones where they take out multiple comparable EVs at the same time in convoy and drive them until they run out of juice, comparing what they get with what the manufacturers predict.

And I don't question the value of that, but range alone doesn't make long journeys faster. Take the Ioniq28 and 38. The rubbish charge rate of the 38 makes it only marginally better over a long distance than the Ioniq28.

Same car used by several journos. Lots of static/interior shots likely with the heating on, trying out the vehicle to load, etc. Then on the road doing 0-60s and stuff.

167 miles in 19+ hours is under 9mph average.

Yes but remember if its not a Tesla, some people just judge it as rubbish and start the campaign early on to say so.

hehe for someone to hate Tesla that much you do steer the conversation in that direction every time. The big T was mentioned nowhere until you brought it up, again.

Quite.

Back on the Ioniq 5, looks like there is talk of Hyundai using the N moniker on the top of the range model to rival the Kia EV6 GT.

Those extra front lights completely kill the look for me. Seems like a pretty terrible fan photoshop tbh.

Judging by the amount of attention that guy is paying to the road while driving I assume it has an autopilot system, and a damned good one at that?
ha ha I thought that too, I was waiting for him to rear end someone during most of his driving segments!

well the etron is a complaince car about as far from a volume production as its possible to get and audi make a fortune from the massive mark up on all their parts, buy 2 million screens a year v few thousand and see the price difference

i have always wondered if you bought a complete car in bits from a german dealer how much more it would cost over buying the actual car? 5 times more? 10 times more?
Someone over on the S2000 forum has done it. Cost of a an S2000 in parts is £264,973 (with 338 unavailable). That's roughly 10 times what the car cost.

Having said that, if you bought the parts in the USA, it would be about half the UK price.

Indeed. Should be relatively close based on the look of the i30N though, and thought worth a share. smile

Be interesting to see how they price it. The launch spec Project 45 car with 300hp and AWD is going to be £48k apparently, which isn't bad when you consider the first edition Mustang Mach-E with similar kit, range and performance numbers is £58k

577hp is massive jump likely to require different suspension, brakes, wheels, tyres, motors though?
