I was interested in the Genesis version until the 73k price was stuck on it - that’s a lot.
What model were you looking at ? Reason I ask is I'm considering the RWD version as with the bits I want it actually ends up cheaper than an equivalent I5 - just maxed out an AWD version on the configurator and that came in at £67,635 (including electronic wing mirrors, full leather and updated seats, intelligent suspension, etc) ? I assume you were looking at the Sports+ version with the 4.2 seconds to 60 (?), boost button and drift mode version ?

My I5 dual motor was nippy but not fast fast - I’d want at least the same performance. The Genesis has a boost button I believe.

Only the top 'high performance' version.

Think the problem Genesis have developed for themselves is they have gone 'here is our super fast model' for all reviewers, and that starts at £65k and can be specified up to £73k, however the RWD version and that starts at £47k, with the AWD starting at £53,600 - the only differences being drive train and one additional optional pack for the AWD version (intelligent suspension).

Lots of posts 8 months ago when it came out, I detailed my entire journey. I’m sure it’s a great piece of technology but the crap materials and soulless “feel” made me get rid (and I had poppy door handles and a 240v socket).
I was interested in the Genesis version until the 73k price was stuck on it - that’s a lot.
Still it’s the only car I made a nett profit on inc 6 months running costs.
I have a 240V socket, too. Lack of soul doesn't bother me, if I want that I take the TVR smile.

I much prefer the I5's styling to the Genesis GV60's (and price as you say). I'm impressed with the charge rate of the 800V EVs, got 223kW peak from the CCS charger at Porsche AFN Guildford (32% to 85% in 15mins). Not the cheapest charger but was passing and wanted to see what it could do..

Good choice. I went with the EV6, but there's not a lot in it.

Guy at work has one and is getting some grief for it, but I think it looks great. The wheels are lovely!

Very disappointed with the #Hyundai #Ionic5, poor ride, rattles from the interior, speed display is hidden in the blind spot on low-resolution 80s style screens. Terrible service from Bristol Street dealership in Nottingham as well. AVOID
Opposite of my experience with the car.

It was better than Polestar 2 and Tesla Model 3. Polestar 2 dealer experience at Solihull was terrible

blueg33: I noticed your opening post in the now closed thread: have you considered an Enyaq, new Mégane, used i-Pace, or e-Niro? I'm in a similar position to you it seems, and these have also crossed my radar.

complete opposite of my experience!

done 11k miles in my Ioniq5 ultimate RWD and very happy with it.

yes, some rattles (rear seat belts - keep them plugged in when no rear passengers or someone on SpeakEV has made rubber buffer things) and rear tailgate (adjusted by dealer) but car has been otherwise faultless.

speed display comment is difficult to understand? as well as the speed being displayed on the screen directly in front of the driver (which can be hidden by steering wheel depending on adjustment of the wheel) it's also displayed on the top left of the left side screen and again on the HUD.

regarding 'low resolution 80s style screens' - that's non-sense.

also, A1 service from local Bristol Street dealer.

recently, with warm weather and just local runs the range with regen (I-pedal) is over 300 miles.

(I searched for a thread, and the search worked as well as it has always done...............)

Ipace doesn't have the range I don't think.

Sounds stupid but I need a bit of qudos too - in my industry the boss cant have the cheapest looking car in the car park and that rules out the others.

The design of the Ioniq 5 makes it a bit different and that works

Budget is £60k

I'm not criticising your choice, as I do think the 5 looks a cracking piece of kit, but what made you choose that over the Model Y in that price bracket?

Fair dos. While our boats are similar, yours needs more bling! thumbup

I like the Ioniq very much, and have spent time in pretty much all EVs on sale right now (statically, at least). It impresses me every time. I can see me taking this route or the Ioniq 6 in due course, although Mrs McAndy does have a penchant for the Enyaq.

Or gambling on a used Model S...scratchchin

I enquired about a EV6 GT, and could place an order now for April 23, but only in black or white, not "Goodwood spec Grey". What I really want is the ioniq 5 N, but there's not much info about yet, except for "Coming in 2023".

Has anyone had any info from dealers about when the order book opens on the N, or final specs/colours? I think it's too early, but maybe somebody has inside knowledge?

My worry is that when it arrives, it's only available with a dark interior (love the light interior on current models), and that they mess with the exterior too much, which is already great and might not suit the traditional hot-hatch N treatment...

Honestly, the current AWD Ultimate would probably be plenty good enough, but I'd like a bit more go.

If anyone hears anything, I'll be glued to this thread until next year. type

Much to my surprise we bought an Ioniq 5 today. My wife was looking for a new car to replace her Skoda Karoq and I had suggested given her use we look at PHEVs. We test drove the usual suspects (Sportage, Tuscon etc.) and were going to go for a Tuscon, however whilst my wife was chatting to the salesman, as I'd never had the chance to explore one in the flesh,I was poking around an Ioniq 5 in the showroom. 15 mins later we were on a test drive.... and my wife loved it.

It isn't the spec I'd have gone for (just the Premium 58kWh) but for ordinary road driving it was (surprising given the power rating and weight) much nippier that her current car, as well as being more spacious etc. A deal was done and it arrives next weekend.

I'm actually quite excited as it's our first EV. I like something with a bit more oomph and was/am considering the N version if/when it's released, although I'm not sure about his and hers cars.

Look like I am joining the EV club. Just done a deal on a Project 45. It will be my daily driver. Interested to see if an ev can work for me in real life.

I like the way it drives, it seems pretty comfortable. Wondering how good the heating will be in winter.

We are also playing the waiting game now on a RWD ultimate 77kwh MY23 (black, which is a small drawback as we wanted a grey). We have been told december but I'll believe it when I see it.

Honestly it's the only EV that gives me the fizz visually. I think they look stunning.

Yep, it's a massive plus in winter and quickly becomes something you wonder how you ever lived without.

I will also add that as EV's have no reliance on an engine warming up, even wihout pre-heating they warm up considerably quicker than any ICE car I've had previously.

The ability to pre-cool in weather like we've had recently is also very handy, especially when you have a black car with black interior. smile

Enjoy, the heating is instant in them as you don't need to wait for an engine to warm up smile

I think the 5 is a great looking family car, its too big for my needs personally but if I had kids it would certainly have been high up the list!
