It does put into the context the differences between Asian Brands, Chinese, Korean Japanese , so far i see Hyundai, Kia leading closely followed by the wave of Chinese makers Roewe(MG) , Xpeng, Nio, Li-Auto and finally the Japanese who have been slow to adapt and be as innovative as there Asian neigbours for example Lexus have just launched in the UK a UX300-e with Chademo and less than 200 miles , which is more expensive and less range than MG or Kia, Hyundai

That wouldn’t concern me so much as supporting a genocidal regime (and their treatment of HK).

That Marvel R is surprising good looking. Shame it seems to have a boot smaller than a Ford Focus.

That's because Toyota still believes in hydrogen.

Its a shame because our IS300H at 6 years old pretty much feels new, its never needed even an oil top up let alone the near constant visits to the workshop our Tesla needs.

Its also far more luxurious than any MG/Kia/Hyundai, we wouldn't think twice about replacing the IS300H with an electric version, but Toyota just refuses to engage with EV development.

MG might be owned by SAIC, but their headquarters are in the UK, and they do a lot of design and development at Longbridge.

That said, I do have ethical objections to China and would not choose to buy an MG.

Every so often a country's car manufacturing gets good very quickly and they soon become standard well known brands. Japanese cars in the late 60s and early 70s, Korean cars in the late 80s and early 90s. Now it's China's turn. Things are moving on from the cars Clarkson and May drove on Top Gear with the copycat X5, Aygo and Mini. That was in 2012.

There probably are still copycat cars now but the new MG cars (ICE and EV) measure up against anything else on sale now as an equivalent.

Neither the Marvel R nor that facelifted MG5 are coming to the UK. Won't be made in RHD. Shame really.

That's a shame. How did you learn that?

I can believe it will be late to the RHD markets, but not releasing it here at all would be a slightly strange decision.

£40-50k for an MG? No surprise it's not coming to the UK, as a brand they are way behind Hyundai and Kia.

True, but they'd have to start somewhere if they were going to recover. Twenty years ago Kia/Hyundai were every bit of much of a mess in brand terms as MG are now.

I do like the tan interior option though. smile
