Thanks for these replies. All really useful.

I'd struggle to own an I3, even as a local runabout, because of the look. I'm sure I'd end up using my much larger grand tourer just for vanity.

It's interesting how the massive Benefit in Kind tax advantage made the 320e an obvious choice for the company car driver but not so much for the private, second owner.

Curious times for we "impoverished" (chuckle) second owners, as we look at the resale values and the huge number of PHEV's waiting for new buyers out there.

It's a shame there isn't a clearer way of modelling the ownership costs for second owners. But maybe that's just as well.

To be continued.

FWIW I have a 67 330e that I bought last June.

My other options I were looking at were a 320d, 330i and 330d. The 330d's at the time were too pricey and out of my range, and the 330i's felt a little too thirsty. I'd had a 320d before so it was always a backup plan but I wanted something a little different.

For me it's been the best of the bunch, with performance of the 330i/d but more efficient than the 320d, especially considering you only get a 40 litre tank in the 330e. During lockdown last year when I was able to charge at work as well as at home (on a 22mile each way commute), I was getting not far off 1000 miles per tank.

Now we're getting back to normal again I'm only charging at home, but brim to brim MPG is 75 there or thereabouts. Can't complain about that, especially in comfort and sport modes where there's a real poke to the 'loud' pedal, and putting it in full sport really brings a smile to the face. Can complain about noisy runflats, but that's another discussion entirely!

Really loving the 330e F30, already know in 3 years time it'll be the G20 330e replacing it, full EVs of absolutely no interest to me in my current situation.

Having had a 330e as a company car for 4 years, I wouldn’t do it. They are quick and nice to potter in on full electric.
The amount of times ours was back at the dealers would put me off without a full manufacturer warranty. It produced some large bills.

The electric range after 4 years is about 15miles at best.
Makes no sense if you do long ish mileages - consumption is ok but nothing special compared to a diesel.

Boot is tiny, fuel tank is tiny.

Conversely, for balance, my 2017 330e did 80k in 3 years without missing a beat.

4 up to France camping, no issue with boot space either!
