I am currently driving approx 230 miles to work in Devon each week, commuting about 5 miles each way from the hotel to the office and returning home on one tank of Diesel. The car is loaded with my weekly stuff and a set of golf clubs, the air con and radio and sat nav,are on, and occasionally the headlamps and wipers too.

I stop once on the long journey to go to the loo and that’s it. 5 minutes. There is no charging point at the hotel or office.

The car (a 3 litre X3) cost me about £25k 4 years ago and is probably now worth £8k if I am lucky but I get paid 45p per mile in expenses for my business miles. I bought it myself, no loans or lease deals. I also need it to tow a race car trailer several times a year.

Is there an EV that can do all this please?
Yes providing you charge it at the hotel. If you are unable to meet this criteria then you don't earn enough money to buy an EV and should do better at racing tongue out

I agree - I have a Kona too and have done several long distance journeys (Lakes to Leics return, Lakes to Cotswolds return, Lake to Manchester return). To Leicester (360 miles return) and the Cotswolds (440 miles) I picked out Instavolt chargers at the destination and used them for 45 minutes (one not working and need to used another), Lakes to Manchester is 180 miles return and easily achievable with 100+ miles spare. It's not quite as straight forward as using an ICE car for long journeys , but the charging situation is starting to get better and will only improve. If you have no range anxiety (with the Kona's 300 mile range) it's also a far more soothing and relaxing way to travel. I understand that if you need to tow/have a lot of boot space/have more than two kids/are a badge snob then this particular Hyundai probably isn't for you, but I really can't see any scenario that involves me using an ICE car as my daily driver again.
Yeah, I was a bit unlucky with the cottage we rented in the Lakes as there was no way to granny charge. Otherwise the trip cost would be halved as the 40 mins charge at Instavolts @ 40pp Kw added the majority of the expense... and I would have saved £5 on a muffin and a coffee too.

I have a round trip Bristol to Leeds this week, so hoping the grab one of the free podpoints overnight in a city centre car park.

I bought a 15m extension lead for guerilla charging at a holiday cottage but, after arriving, it felt a bit cheeky to run it through an upstairs window

Luckily the owner let me use a socket in a shed (for £20)
