Getting to the moment of truth, the cars are at the import centre, the dealer demos due next week, the ordered card the week after - will I get one?
Well I’ve paid but until I see a VIN ….
Also I might switch from matt gold if that is an option as reading up the care of matt paint is a chore.

I was accepted for the original P45 order a few months ago.
Went to Birmingham when they had one on display to check it out. It was supposed to be a car for my better half who currently has a e-golf so thought it might be a god upgrade.
I got really annoyed with the uplifting in price from £45k to £48 (ok, not manufacturers fault…) but still £48k for a Hyundai and seeing the car in the flesh we cancelled and ordered the id3 for £27k. Sorry it’s just not worth it in our opinion. Hopefully you think it’s worth it. For that kind of cash I’d prefer a Tesla.
Mine was a gold one too and part of our cancellation was due to the Matt gold we had on order, did not like the Matt finish. Ok, it’s got mega options but simply not 27k to 48k worth…
The reviews of the car are very good and complementary but the reviewers don’t have to pay for it.
DS, hope you like it, I’m looking forward to your views. Maybe you got my cancellation. Lol.
you'd prefer a Tesla? a lower quality car?

Please no Tesla talk on here, if I wanted one I’d get one but they are fast white goods to me.

The ioniq is at least interesting architecture.

Just watched the live unveiling and it was a bit crap - didn't learn anything and didn't feature a Project 45

Popped up to the dealer as the demo had arrived - mid spec in primer grey.
Looked smaller than expected and a bit basic inside but I know this is minimalist.

No it’s not set up yet but from Tuesday it’s 6 x 1 hour slots per day.
My car should be arriving 7/10 days if it arrives at all so not long now.

I drove one yesterday in Southampton. A bit chaotic, didn't get to the car until half-way through our slot although it was parked outside in plain view.

It was a Premium with RWD. The traffic was mad, and I ventured out into the bottom end of town with some trepidation. As it happened it was incredibly easy to drive, good visibility, nice surge of torque when required, the cabin is a bit empty but the driving position is nice. Seats are good, steering wheel has very limited reach adjustment but fine for me. Seat is quite high, but my knees aren't going to like low cars now.

Time was running out but we got as far as the start of the M3 and actually gave it some welly. My wife actually squeaked as her head hit the headrest, and this is the lower-powered one...

It does look a little odd and to be honest I think I prefer the overall look of the EV6, but that's quite a bit more expensive like-for-like. I think the colour combinations with the wheel arches and other external trim account for some of the oddity.

Anyway, seriously considering getting one.

Interesting none colours they are offering, they must have a reason for no pastel shades I guess.

I’ve had an update, the Hyundai VIP team are managing the P45 orders to make us feel speshul.
The dealers are bypassed initially after submitting orders so my dealer asked if I’d keep them posted.

I know I’m chatting to myself here but at least it’s a record of a weird exp I can look back on.

So “most” of the Project 45’s have arrived, news to me but that’s what they say.

Ok - has mine arrived? None allocated until they are all here so I’ve got to wait for the nameless Korean floating car park to dock at Tilbury and unload a few more gravity gold P45’s before I can get mine and suffer buyers remorse on the way home (I’m suffering already and I’ve not bought it yet) .

It’ll be great my inner self tells my other inner self / hmmm - will it ?

They're really launching a car in the UK called the P45?

You’re not chatting to yourself, I’m interested and I’m sure many others are.

Project45
Yep Project 45 - with its exclusive solar roof adding 0.01 km of range in tropical Liverpool. In reality the solar roof is to charge the 12v battery not add range.

Pardon me if I'm making the wrong assumption here, but do you know you'll definitely get one if they've not allocated any of them?

Nobody does for sure. They have totally fked it up but it seems many have cancelled and on speakEV one guy was emailed this week asking if he wanted one.

My dealer had 3 reserved which they weren’t supposed to do, who knows I’m only 50% bothered as in I don’t “need” it I just thought it’d be a laugh for a year or so whilst new production sorts itself out.

So, I managed to test the Ionic 5 the other day and found it a very nice car. The car's biggest appeal has to be its space in the cabin.

For a family, this car would be great, plenty of room in the back and boot, lots of safety features and speed a plenty if you need it.

That said, with all its features it felt a little like I was driving an Xbox sim.

Call me a traditionist but it wouldn't be my first choice (but not far off).
