Now does 230 miles to a charge, I ran the battery flat, reset as much as I could and it’s much better.
It’s a brilliant knock about car as in it can do lots easily. My main issue is rattling seat belts but Velcro dots help.
What’s a surprise is it’s free motoring as the cars worth £4K more than I paid for it (yet at present) - I’ll probably sell early 2022 before it gets too common.

Gotcha. It'll be interesting to read your thoughts on a return to ICE as a driving/owning experience, acknowledging the range problems you've unfortunately had with your particular vehicle.

Toureg R is a Phev - I do 20 mikes a day the engine will hardly start (I hope)

I don’t think the car had a range issue just it thought it had - I’m on 63% right now with 140 miles on the range indicator.

Went to have a look around the 5 this morning with the boss. We both agreed that from a distance the car looks lovely, just the sort of design Audi used to do, but closer up things went awry. It’s very plasticky and the interior looked like something that Clive Sinclair would have come up with…quite cheap looking, particularly compared with a new Tucson parked next to it. Quite disappointing after I’d spent weeks persuading the wife that Hyundais aren’t all driven by ladies and men of a certain age to the garden centre.

It’s really well built, most of mine is leather apart from the shelf in front of the middle screen which is cheap? It’s a spacious modern interior which works well. At £48k it lacks a few things MB would do but it does so much more than a merc

Its just very plasticky…cup holder, 12v socket surround, steering wheel, door switches etc. The screen is the only thing that is modern…replace that with normal dials and it’s just a typical Eastern interior…my wife said it reminded her of the Rover SD. It’s all probably well built but it just didn’t wow like the exterior.

I'd take a look at the EV6. Get the feeling that'll be a better fit from an interior perspective and still very funky looking.

Mine's an ultimate spec and the shelf in front of the middle screen, which I would expect your P45 to be also?
I still don't have the rear seat belt rattle.

Bobtherallyfan, what spec were you looking at? Not much plastic in mine.

It's possibly a general observation. Owning a new model Tucson in ultimate spec and having compared it to an Ioniq 5 at the dealership, the quality of the interior materials is definitely a step up in the Tucson.

The demo cars I've seen are Premiums, much more plastic. Ultimates and P45's more soft-touch surfaces.

I noticed this as well. I was a little disappointed with the materials of the Premium tester I tried, but then 5 minutes later when I parked up at the nearby supermarket for a shop, there was a P45 and looking in I could see there was a large difference in quality.

£3k difference between premium and ultimate spec but you would expect a car starting at £39k and called 'premium' to at least feel it?

Problem with the costs is a £39k EV is the equivalent to a £25-30k ICE with the same levels of quality. I knew there was a big difference, but was surprised by just how much it could be when I priced up the ICE equivalent to my Zoe50 - was ~£12k difference before discounts !!

I went to see an EV6 at the weekend. The interior was definitely darker, and very much "cosy"!

It was a GT Line S, with standard (and non-deletable) sunroof. I'm 6' 3" with short-cropped hair, and my hair was on the roof at the door lining. The salesman reckoned the sunroof removes ~1.5" from the cabin height. They have just received a GT Line with no sunroof (nor optionable) that I will check out as soon as possible. The back had great leg sapce but, again, the roof was close and I could easily rest my head at the door line.

The Ioniq, in comparison, is a lounge on wheels.

I've got an I5 Ultimate with upgrade packs and light grey interior and have to agree with the criticism of the plasticky-nes. the seat material is called 'eco-leather' whatever that means and the centre console is a poor effort at matching an even cheaper material again to the eco-leather.

that said, its a great car to drive with lots of gadgets and turns heads everywhere.

it replaced my old & dearly missed full fat range rover but it was a choice between I5 or another full-fat which at the same cost would have been likely 4 year old with 50k miles on so I reckon I made the right choice.

Hi, Just adding my 10p on the thread. (first PH post for years!)

We took delivery of a leased Ioniq 5 2wd premium with the larger battery 3 weeks ago. Metallic grey I forget the name - would have liked the standard matt gold/silver but its a lease and I can't polish scratches out of matt paint!

We have loved the car from day 1; looks fantastic and with a 3rd child arriving 2 days before the car its been brilliant.

We can fit 3 kids in the back, dog and buggy in the boot, us in the front. Feels spacious and airy - in fact the kids prefer it to the Q7; there is more leg room in the Hyundai if not quite bum room, however 1 is baby seat, 1 kids seat and 1 a thin booster in the middle so no issues there anyway. Huge storage in the cabin is brilliant. Loads of USBs (USB 2s not Cs).

The boot is huge but the slope on the back window is steeper than it looks so i haven't found a dog cage that will fit our medium sized dog yet.. just a cheap amazon boot liner for now. I got some custom rubber floor matts online for £20 - fit really well and cheaper than the branded ones.

Ride is lovely and it's quick enough; and while it uses a lot of charge it will cruise at outside-lane-motorway speeds happily.

Handling and steering; some of the reviews have been saying its really sporty but it isnt at all - its very relaxed, light (not overly light though) and feel-less. The steering is much nicer than the Kona/Niro/Soul trio though, which all feel far too light IMO.

We went with the premium as we wanted to get an in-stock lease and that was what they had. I now would say dont go for the very base model as some of the toys are worth the extra but i dont think ultimate is a must. That said - if you are ordering one and happy to wait, plus the cost wasn't much different, it might be worth it for the interior improvements. What you see and touch is all very nice, but the door cards are very light cheap feeling plastic. Don't get me wrong - its about 1000% better than an ID3 even there - but the Premium lacks any kind of surround / mood lighting so at night its very plain. I notice on video reviews that the ultimate has this on the doors etc and really seems to lift the cabin.

Otherwise it has everything you need or want but nothing else (e.g. the mood lighting and doesn't have the lay flat chairs or sliding centre console which i can't see me using either of).

Radar cruise and "auto steer" or some kind of advance lane keeping is brilliant for the commute/busy traffic on main roads; really relaxing. Its a bit twitchy at first but seems to settle down with a bit of pressure on the wheel. Radar cruise does full stop and will do stop/start in traffic for you (you have to click/press accelerator to go again).

Hyundai app is great and charge/climate timers easy to set - though timed climate only seems to work when plugged in and charging frustratingly; i don't want or need to plug the car in and charge every night.

Ours as the V2L which i can't see us using but there is a handy standard plug in the rear seats so if I ever go to work with it and need to plug in my laptop that will be useful I guess.

a few gripes/annoyances:
- No rear wiper; there is no valid reason for this other than cost saving IMO - Hyundai say for aero reasons but they could have put it up top like a range rover. Its a total pain and i am cleaning the window every 2 days despite ceramic coating it when the car arrived.
- Reversing camera is low down and gets filthy easily - cleaning it every time we set off at the minute
- Window seals dont clean the side windows
- It wont retain i-pedal (one pedal driving) setting when you turn off and on - you have to reengage this from level 3 regen every time. Pointless - software update needed here i think

- The infotainment is much better than latest VW stuff (ID3/4 golf etc) in that it actually works, hasn't crashed on me and starts up in less than a minute, but it is still a bit slow; takes up to 30 seconds to warm up (though audio and climate will come on and you can drive immediately) and it can be a bit ponderous. The interface is simple enough but there are some odd bits and odd logic at times. E.G. there are 3 customisable buttons; 2 on steering wheel one on dash, but only certain options for each one, some repeated some not. You can't for example make radio a shortcut on the dash button only the steering wheel mode button.. The favourites buttons have a few options but none particularly useful every day. The screen is responsive and home screen is useful showing charge, time, map, audio etc and you can click on area of the screen covering that to go to the menu. However the screen is a long way away - you have to reach out your seat to change things, and things like the Bluetooth menus are a bit more complex than i would like; i suspect they haven't bothered making it better because they realised everyone will just use carplay.

- Heated seats should have a dash button - as it it is you have to go into the "warmer" menu (for which there is a dash button) and select from there)

- No wireless Carplay/AndroidAuto - come on on a 2021 £40k car of the future?! major oversight - might have to get an adapter off amazon!

Now; we had an issue today; car would not engage drive! Got in with the kids to go to school and it went to neutral but not drive or reverse. Did an in-out full reset;lcok 10 or more times and nothing. Called the Hyundai assistance who sent the AA within an hour. He turned up and as i was showing him, it worked 2nd time! very odd... AA chap had no idea - we checked 12v battery but that was fine (the warning had been displaying but app said it was fine).

Hopefully we wont have the same issue again...
